Dreger Research Notes

The Problem  No information has been found related to Andreas Dreger and Elisabeth Dreger, parents of Herman, other than birth records for two sons and the death of a third son, all of which occurred between 1859 and 1864 while they were residing in Lagiewnik, Pudewitz, Posen, Prussia (now Pobiedziska, Poznan, Poland).

Pudewitz  Pobiedziska (Pudewitz) is a town in Poznan County, Poland.  It is also the seat of the administrative district (gmina) called Gmina Pobiedziska.  Due to the partitions of Poland, the town fell under German control in the late 18th century.  Prior to 1772 the town had a history of inviting Germans to work at the manorial farms in the area.  The town of Pobiedziska lies approximately 27 kilometres (17 mi) north-east of the regional capital Poznan. (Wikipedia).  Lagiewniki is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Pobiedziska (Wikipedia).  It is about 5 miles north of Pobiedziska.

Searches  Marriages in Pudewitz have been searched back to at least 1839.  Nothing was found.  The Poznan Marriages Project identified only one couple, who were married in Revier (Rejowiec) in October 1841 (Kirchenbuch, Evangelische Kirche Revier (Kr. Wongrowitz), Posen, Prussia, Marriages 1841 p.24 no.19):

Andreas Drägerage 26father Michael Dräger
Anna Elisabeth Draeger  age 26father Gottlieb Draeger

Rejowiec, also called Rejowiec Poznanski, is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Skoki, within Wagrowiec County, which borders Poznan County to the north.  It lies approximately 30 km (19 mi) north-east of the regional capital Poznan. (Wikipedia)

Rejowiec is only about six miles northwest of Lagiewniki.  Today's directions between the two villages cover 17.3 km (Google Maps).  The place of the marriage is not necessarily where the couple lived; however, it is not unreasonable for Andreas and Elisabeth to migrate from that vicinity to Lagiewnik.

Children of Andreas Dräger and Elisabeth Draeger Records have been found for three children of Andreas and Elisabeth:

Michael
abt Oct 1855
Michael was born about Oct 1855 (age at death 4 years, 6 months).  He died 23 Apr 1860 at Lagiewnik, Pudewitz, Poson (Kirchenbuch, Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz, Posen, Prussia, 1860 Deaths p.287 #35).  No birth record has been found in Pudewitz or Revier.  However, in Revier, there is a birth record for Michael Heinrich Drager, son of Andreas and A. Catharina (Kirchenbuch, Evangelische Kirche Revier (Kr. Wongrowitz), Posen, Prussia, Births p.263 [FHL 752793 it 2]).
Herman Julius
1859
Herman Julius was born 16 Mar 1859 at Lagiewnik, Pudewitz, Poson (Kirchenbuch, Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz, Posen, Prussia).  He died 4 Feb 1934 at Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, USA (Certificate of Death #18693, Pennsylvania Dept. of Health), and is buried in Landisville Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, East Hempfield Twp, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, USA (Lancaster Co. Cemeteries 2:59).

He was married, on 2 Jan 1890 at Lancaster PA, to Kathryn (Marley).

Emil Adolf
1864
Emil was born 18 Nov 1864 at Lagiewnik, Pudewitz, Poson (Kirchenbuch, Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz, Posen, Prussia).  He may be the Emil Adolf Draeger (age 23), son of Andreas, who was married in 1887 to Alwine Ottilie Huth (age 24), daughter of Gottfried (Poznan Marriages Project).

Summary  Given the proximity of Rejowiec to Lagiewniki, and the lack of other candidates, it is possible that the couple married in 1841 is the same couple that lived in Lagiewnik at least from 1859 to 1864.  However, the gap of 14 years from the marriage to the birth of son Michael raises questions.
