William Wallace Land Records Note: the following Lunenburg land records apparently all refer to a William Wallace who died about 1749. He may be the father of the William Wallace who married Elizabeth McClelland. Or I may be reading the 1749 land record incorrectly and they all refer to the same William Wallace. Walter A. Davis, The Proprietors' Records of the Town of Lunenburg, Massachusetts: p.70 (p.37-2 in original document), 18 Feb 1730/31, Meadow lots - Survayed for Nathan Heywood his meadow lott belonging to house lott No thirty eight lying within William Wallases house lott, the contents of which is six acres, begining at a certain pine tree marked for the south east corner and runing East thirty four deg thirty min North sixteen rod and a half to a pine stump, there making an angle and runing North thirty degrees East eight rod to a pine stump, there making an angle and runing North twenty three deg West fourteen rod to a black oak stumpe, there making an angle and runing North East Eighteen rod to an elm stump, there making an angle and runing south forty deg East nine rod to a pine stump, there making an angle and runing south six deg West thirteen rod to a stak, there making an angle and runing East thirty two deg south fourty rod to a heep of stones in borman's Line, there making an angle and runing West one deg south sixty three rod to where it began, bounding all round on said Wallases Land. p.105 (p.55 in original document), surveyed 13 Jan 1730/31, recorded 26 Mar 1731, Granted unto William Wallis by the Committee appointed by the Greate and General Court to a Lott and Grant out the lands within the town of Lunenburgh to Grantees House Lott No 62 together with all the rights and divisions of land belonging there unto or ariseing there from, and the said house lott No 62 falling within Lancaster new Grant. The Committee appointed by the proprietors of the town of Lunenburg for that purpors laid out to the said William Wallis sixty acres of land within said Lunenburg for an equevilent for his house lott aforesd. surveyed for William Wallis house lott No. 62. Includeing Nathan Heywoods meadow lott. Begining at a pillar of stones erected for the Norwest corner and runing south one degree East 55 rod to a white oak tree on land laid out to Hastings, there making an angle and runing East 7 degr north 28 rod to a white oak tree on sd Wallases first division, there making an angle and runing south 2 deb East 59 rod on said Wallases first Division, there making an angle and runing west 13 deg south 8 rod to a white pine tree marked for Bormans Corner, there making an angle and runing south 16 deg west 7 rod on Bormans farm, there making an angle and runing East 10 degr south 12 rod on common land, there making an angle and runing north 18 deg East 40 rod to a black oake tree on common land, there making an angle and runing East 34 deg north 63 rod on common land, there making an angle and runing West 26 deg north 109 rod on third division land laid out to famll page to where it began. p.107-108 (p.55-2 in original document), 13 Jan 1730/1, laid out by the Committee appointed 13 acres of third Division land to make up what is wanting in William Wallases third Division, ariseing from house lott No. 62, adjoyning to said Wallases meadow lott begining at a certain pine tree marked on the Easterly part of said land and runing north 11 deg on common land 76 rod to a burch bush which is dodges corner, there making an angle and runing south 16 deg West on Bormans farm 71 rod, there making an angle and runing south 40 deg East by the brook 20 rod, there making an angle and runing south 35 deg West on said Wallases own meadow 38 rod, there making an angle and runing 43 deg East on said meadow lott 18 rod, there making an angle and runing North 29 deg East cheifly on sd meadow lott 60 rod to where it began. p.227 (p.33 in original document), recorded 31 Jan 1734/5, surveyed for William Wallis his meadow lott on Cataconamoug, the contents of which is 13 acres, begining near where the brook runs into ye pond and runs by the upland while it comes to a pine tree, then runs south twenty nine degrees West on land laid to said Wallas sixty rod, then runs north 43 degrees West on said Wallases land 18 rod, then runs north 35 degrees East on said Wallas 38 rod, then runs, as exhibited by the plan, to the brook and down the brook to where it began. MA Deed Books: 15 Nov 1728 (recorded 9 Aug 1732), Vol. 3, p.129-130 - from Nathan Heywood of Lunenburg, with the assent and consent of his wife Easter, to William Wallis of Stow, cooper, Lunenburg £38, meadow lot, 5 acres lying near North line of Andrew Bormans farm in Lunenburg & now included in a 60 acre lot laid out to said Wm Wallis [FHL 843212] 3 Feb 1729/30 (acknowledged 7 Mar 1736/7, recorded 18 Aug 1737), Vol. 8, p.413 - from William Wallis, cooper of Lunenburg, to Josiah Willard of Lunenburg, for £14 10 sh, all the part share devided & proportion of comon & undivided land belonging to one single right & full share or house lot no. 52 now belonging to Wm. Wallis [FHL 843215] 13 Jan 1734/5, Vol. 6, p.188 - from Edward Hartwell esq. & Jonathan Whitney yeoman, both of Lunenburg, to William Wallis of Lunenburg, cooper, Lunenburg deed £7, a certain tract of land in Lunenburg containing 7 1/2 acres, of which 4 1/2 acres was laid out to Edward Hartwell & 3 acres to Jonathan Whetney to make up what was found wanting in his meadow lot beginning at a burch bush, runs east on Noah Doges meddow, runs south 32 deg East 24 rods, runs West? 11 deg South East 22 rods, runs chiefly by a spruce? swamp till it comes to the land of Wm Wallis, runs north 11 deg West on sd Wallices land 65 rods to beginning. [FHL 843214] 3 Jul 1737, Vol 8, p.406 - from William Wallis, of Lunenburg, to Josiah Willard esq. of Lunenburg, one messuage or tract of land in Lunenburg which was granted to Wm Wallis by the General Court Comm. for a 2nd Div no. 25 which was laid out for 60 acres together with what is now found wanting in the 2nd Div, beginning at maple tree marked for West corner, runs East 31 Deg 30 min South 51 1/2 rods to a heap of stones there making an angle, runs N 28 deg 30 min East on Lot 24, 150 rods to a stake, runs west 31 deg 30 min North on the North town line 56 rods to a stake, runs South 30 deg West 150 rods to beginning. [FHL 843215] 3 Jul 1742, Vol. 16, p.332-334 - from William Wallas of Lunenburg, cooper or husbandman, and wife Elizabeth who released her dower, to James Gordon, merchant of Boston, £40 10sh (Eilliam signed his name, his wife made her mark). Land in Lunenburg estimated at least 65 acres, the same land that was mortgaged to the directors of the Manufactory Company by William Wallis in Sep 1740 with all houses, messuages, tenaments, barn buildings, edifices, fences, orchards, timbers, trees, woods & underwoods, water courses & ways, rights membey?, creeks, meadows.
