The known children of Francisco Parma and Catherine Baer are listed below. There is a lot of uncertainy about some of their birthdates. For example, between 1870 and 1880 everyone in the household lost a few years in age. The place of their births is consistent across records, and their sequence of birth when shown with siblings is also consistent. When no baptism has been found, I have used the earliest appearing estimate of their birth. The Ohio births probably all occurred in Cincinnati.
| Francisco Julius 1842 | Francisco Julius was baptized 4 Jun 1842 . His sponsors were Josephus Mariani and Adelais Catani (St. Peter Cathedral, Cincinnati, Ohio Parish register for 1842). He apparently died before 1850, as he is not listed with the family in that census.

| Rosena 1843 | Rosena was baptized 16 Oct 1843 (St. Peter Cathedral, Cincinnati, Ohio Parish register for 1843). Her sponsors were Carolus Carlow and Margaretta Fuerman? Her age - 1850: 6 [b. c.1844], 1860: 16 [b. c.1844], 1870: 22 [b. c.1848], 1880: 32 [b. c.1848], 1900: 44 [b. c.1856], 1910: 58 [b. c.1852], 1914: 70 [b. c.1844]. She was married, first, in 1875 to Henry Eshman. Their marriage bond was filed 18 Sep 1875 in Shelby Co. (Memphis) (Shelby Co. Tennessee Vital Records 1875 Marriage Book F p.649), but the marriage was not recorded there and may have taken place in Covington KY where her family lived.
She and Henry lived in Memphis TN where Henry is listed in the City Directories, and where their son Henry was born c. Dec 1876. Henry (Sr.), a policeman, died 17 Mar 1879 (Tennessee Vital Records 1879 Deaths no.21574). In the 1880 census, Henry (Jr.) was visiting or residing with his grandmother Catherine Parma in Covington KY. He died in Memphis 6 Aug 1886 (Tennessee Vital Records 1886 Deaths no.36886). She was married, second, 8 Feb 1880 in Memphis TN to Rolando F. Arata (Shelby Co. Tennessee Vital Records 1880 Marriage Book I p.174). At the time of their marriage, he was a policeman, but later became a lawyer, and was a Consular Agent for Italy by 1905. The notice of his death referred to him as "the best known Italian citizen of Memphis." He died suddenly 25 Sep 1909 in Memphis (Tennessee Vital Records 1909 Deaths no.15978). In 1910, she was a widow, living in Memphis. She died 8 Jun 1914 in Memphis TN (Tennessee Vital Records 1914 Deaths no.1525). According to her death record she was buried in Cincinnati. However, she was buried near Covington KY (St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky, book 2, p.102-103).
| Mary c.1845 | Mary was born in Ohio. Her age - 1850: 5 [b. c.1845], 1860: 15 [b. c.1845], 1870: 20 [b. c.1850], 1880: 29 [b. c.1851], 1900: 40 [b. c.1860]. She apparently never married. In 1881 she was appointed the administratrix of her mother's estate. She was buried 7 Jun 1905 in St. Mary's Cemetery in Covington KY (St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky, book 1, p.159). | |
| Daniel Joseph 1847 | Daniel Joseph was baptized 23 Dec 1847 (St. Peter Cathedral, Cincinnati, Ohio Parish register for 1847 p.145 #289). His sponsors were Josephus Parr and Maria Anne Krome. His age in the census and marriage records - 1850: 4 [b. c.1846], 1860: 12 [b. c.1848], 1870: 19 [b.c.1851], and 1880: 27 [b. c.1853], 1881 marr: 33 [b. c.1848]. His name is sometimes Daniel Joseph and other times Joseph Daniel. He was married, 18 Apr 1881 in Covington KY, to Katie Edna Robinson. See Daniel Joseph Parma Research Notes for later events in his life. | |
| Philomena 1850 | Philomena is apparently the unnamed child who was baptized 10 May 1850 (St. Francis Xavier Church, Cincinnati, Ohio Parish register for 1850, p.212 no. 154). Her age in the census records - 1850: 3 mo. [b. c.Mar 1850]. She apparently died before 1860, as she is not listed with the family in that census.

Josephine Helena Linda 1853 | Josephine, Helena and Linda are probably the same person. Josephine and Lena were born in Tennessee, according to the census records. Linda was born in Ohio according to census records, but Linda's death record gives her birthplace as Tennessee. None of the three ever appear in the same record.
Their ages in the census records - 1860: Josephine 7 [b. c.1853], 1870: Helena 15 [b. c.1855], 1880: Lena 23 [b. c.1857], 1900: Linda 23 [b. Jan 1877], 1910: Lena 35 [b. c.1875], 1920: Lena 50 [b. c.1870], 1929: Linda 76 yr 4 mo. [b. 1 Mar 1853]. They apparently never married. Linda died 1 Jul 1929 in Cincinnati OH (Ohio Vital Records 1929 Deaths no.46744). She was buried near Covington KY (St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky, book 2, p.276-277)
| Cecelia 1855 | According to her death record, Cecelia was born 5 Nov 1857 in Cincinnati OH. However, according to her baptismal record, she was born 15 Nov 1855 and baptized 21 Nov 1855 (St. Peter Cathedral, Cincinnati, Ohio Parish register for 1855). sponsors James Podesta nad Angela Onetta? There are several possible explanations: 1) her death record is in error (she was the next to the last sibling to die), or 2) There was an earlier Cecilia who died.
Her age in the census records varies in much the same way as her sisters - 1860: 4 [b. c.1856], 1870: 13 [b. c.1857], 1880: 21 [b. c.1859], 1900: 29 [b. Nov 1870], 1910: 46 [b. c.1864], 1920: 48 [b. c.1872], 1928 death: 70yr 3mo 13da. She apparently never married. Cecilia died 18 Apr 1928 in Cincinnati OH (Ohio Vital Records 1928 Deaths no.23460). She was buried near Covington KY (St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky, book 2, p.262-263)
| Elizabeth c.1859 | Elizabeth was born in Ohio. Her age - 1860: 1 [b. c.1859], 1870: 10 [b. c.1860], 1880: 18 [b. c.1862], 1900: 25 [b. Mar 1875], 1910: 30 [b. c.1880], 1920: 45 [b. c.1875]. She apparently never married. She died after 1 Jul 1929, when she was the informant on Linda's death record. No further records have been found. | |
| Charles James 12 Aug 1862 | Charles was born 12 Aug 1862 and baptized 17 Aug 1862 in Covington KY (Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington, Kentucky, Baptisms 1862 p.52). He was an invalid from birth, but was able to work, as in 1900 he was a bookkeeper. His age - 1870 census: 8 [b. c.1862], 1880 census: 16 [b. c.1864], 1900 census: 37 [b. 12 Aug 1867], 1915 death record: 45 [b. 12 Aug 1870]. He apparently never married.
Charles died 7 Feb 1915 in Cincinnati OH (Ohio Vital Records 1915 Deaths no.8559) and was buried near Covington KY (St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky, book 2, p.108-109). |
Timeline for the Parma Family The timeline is complicated by the lack of consistency in the census records discussed above. Between 1870 and 1880 everyone in the household lost a few years in age, and the changes continued even after that.
