Helen L. MATLOCK, m. Vern E. ANDEWAY, 17 July 1937, in Salem, Mo. He was born 7 July 1906, in Monroe Township of Mahaska Co. to John and Jennie Van Brogen ANDEWAY. Vern died Apr. 1993. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and son, Russ of Anchorage, Alaska, and two grandchildren.

6. From Jana McPherson BLACK, (1999-2000) I descend from William Robert MATLOCK. He had a son "Mack" McClellan MATLOCK. Mack had a grandson, Harmon Gene MATLOCK of Fort Smith Ark. Mack was a brother to Jana's great grandmother, Susan Mulvina MATLOCK. Gene had been in touch with Edgar L. MATLOCK & Melba WOOD (he has a letter from her) he also corresponded with Nancy WATERHOUSE and Clovis E. MILLER. Gene had the Wedding Certificate for William Robert MATLOCK and Elizabeth Mariah WEDDELL, numerous applications for Civil War Pension, & photographs. 10. William MATLOCK - Orderly Book of Capt. Robert GAMBLE of the Second Virginia Regiment, commanded by Colonel Christian FEBIGER, 21 Aug 21- Nov 16, 1779

At a Gen'l Court Marshal held this day whereof Maj'r STEWART was President, William MATLOCK Soldier in Capt TALBOT's Company of Col. BUTLER's Regt. of Light Infantry, charged with theft and escaping from the quarter Guard, Disretion and attempting to go to the Enemy, was found Guilty of the whole of the Charges and Unanimously Sentenced to Suffer Death. When any soldier becomes so lost to every sence of value and honor as to be capable of commiting the Carge of whom the above named Prisoner is found guilty of; is no longer fit (to) Exist in a Land of Liberty or to Remain a Disgrace to the name of a Solder.

Gen'l Wayne therefore conform(s) the Sentence passed by the Cort Marshall and the same William MATLOCK to be shot to death at Six o'clock this Evening, the whole of the Troops to assemble at that hour on the Grand Parade and attend the Execution.

Col. FEBIGER is appointed President of the Cort Marshal Vice Maj'r STEWERT, which is set Tomorrow at ten o'Clock at the President's Quarters for the trial of Lt. Col. FLEURY, charged by Lt. MANYARD first for ungentlemanlike behavior, second for abusing him, Lt. MANYARD with insulting laungage when on duty, all evidence and parties to have notice and attend, three Capts. from Each Regt. to attend as members.

13. From Compiler: Joyce Moore - Children of Mary ---- MATLOCK, b. ca 1804, GA. Husband may have been a John MATLOCK. In 1850 they were in Ouachita Co. Ark. (1) John MATLOCK, b. ca 1824, GA. (2) Albert MATLOCK, b. ca 1830, possable AL. No further information on Albert (3) Thomas Leonidus MATLOCK, b. 1847, Ala. m. Josephine, possable "HARRIS" who was indian, in Ouachita, Ark. In 1870's they went to Red River Co. TX. Could Leonidus have gone to Oklahoma ??? Had: (1) John MATLOCK Had: (2) Nancy MATLOCK, m. 1873, Andrew Clinton MOORE Red River Co. TX. d. 1880 at age 23 from cancer according to the 1880 mortality schedule. Had: Lee, Jesse, and Arthur. Arthur appears to have died as an infant. What of the family members that stayed in Ark.??? Is this part of the family that married the MAYFIELDS and came to Ark.? They were in Ga. then went to Ark.
