A. M., born ca. 1835 in Ga. His following children (sex not listed) were born in Ms.: M. born ca. 1834, S. E. born 1859, A. L. born 1861. The rest of the children were born in Tn.: J.M. born 1867, Sarah born 1869. A. M. was not on the 1860 census of Miss., but was in Tipton Co., Tenn. in 1870.

AARON EDGAR, son of John (b. 1853 in Tn.) and Margaret E. (b. 1857 in Tn.) Matlock. Aaron Edgar was (shown in Census only) in Fannin Co., Tx. in 1880.

ABISHA, son of Jno. of Rockingham (NC?) and Mary Weddell Matlock. Abisha was in Christian Co., Ky. in 1840. There was a David listed with him in the household of Jno. of Rockingham also had a David. From Bible records of John and Mary Weddell.

ABISHA JOHN MATLOCK b. ca 1753 in Louisa Co., VA. Died 1 Sept. 1838 in Rockingham Co., NC. Was a Sheriff in KY for many years. Married first wife Sarah Sally McPherson 1781 inVA and had at least 3 children; Martha, William and Henry. Married second Mary (Polly) Settles (or Suttles) 24 November 1792 in Guilford Co., NC and had: Charles, Salley Anne, Abishay, Mary Elizabeth, John James and David. Served in American Revolution. May 1784 received 13 pounds, 8 shillings, 9 pence for Rev. Army service. Sworn to in open court the 27th day of August 1843. In 1843 the widow, Mary Settle/Suttle Matlock was granted a pension on her husbands service. She stated in her declaration that she was 72 years of age and was a resident of Rockingham Co., NC. She also stated that she married John Matlock in 1792. She stated that her husband died 1 Sept 1838. She gave as their children the following: Charles born December 1, 1793, Salley born April 21, 1797, Abishay born November 18, 1800, Mary Elizabeth born August 1, 1803, John born March, 1808, David born March, 1811.

ABRAM or ABRAHAM, born in England and founder of Matlock College. He had a son named John who immigrated to America.

ABRAHAM H., born ca. 1837 in Ind. prob. in Johnson Co. as he was there in 1850 Johnson Co. Ind. Census as age 13. Abraham H. was a son of William Jr. and Sarah Huff Matlock. Note from Shawn: My paperwork shows father as David son of William Jr. but his mother as Sarah Huff. Anyone have the correct info?

ABSOLOM C., born Mar. 21, 1825 in Ky., son of Real H. and Camilla Clark Matlock married 1823, she died 1849. Later he married Luticia Scrimmings. Absolom's wife was Mary M. Harris. 1850 Warren Co. Ky. census shows in household of Rial H. with two daughters one named Angeline age 9/12.

ABSOLOM M., born July 13, I777 son of Moore and Jane Powell Matlock. Absolom married Hannah Moore (father Hugh) on Mar. 13, 1799, after her death on Oct. 9, 1820, he married Elizabeth Dyer. Absolom deeded land in S. C. to William McWilliams on Feb. 23, 1811. He and Hannah deeded land to George Hudspeth on Sept. 5. 1818. Absolom's children by Hannah were born in Pendleton District, S. C. as follows: Real H. born Jan. 29, 1800, Samuel Moore born Oct. 4, 1802, Alphia T. born Sept. 18, 1805, Huldah G. born May 12, 1807, George W. born April 11, 1809, Joel E. born Aug. 27, 1810, Jason M. born Mar. 15, 1812, William H. born Aug. 23, 1813, Absolom (A.J.) born Feb- 5,1815, John C. born Mar. 30, 1816, Lucinda D. born June 18, 1817, and James Monroe born July 18, 1818. Absolom's children by Elizabeth Dyer were Sarah Jane born ca. 1828, and Henry Clay born 1830. Absolom M. died Jan. 1, 1840 in Warren Co., Ky. his wife, Elizabeth applied for a pension on Jan. 21, 1856 for her husband's military service in the War of 1812. It was granted to her on April 1, 1856. Notes for Hannah Moore: Her sister married a Light who shows next to Hugh Moore in 1800 Pendelton Dist. S.C., Hugh's brother Luke lived next to Jacob Light in 1790 Greenville S.C.

ABSOLOM, born in Tn. in 1796 son of Moore Matlock, Jr. and his first wife who is unknown. Absolom married Mary (b. 1800 in Tn.). He was in Overton Co., Tn. in 1830 and 1840, but by 1850 he was In Carroll Co., Ark. His children were : Eliza J. born in 1830, Nancy born in 1831, Moore born in 1834, and Mary born in 1840, also listed were 5 females unnamed born from 1820 to ca. 1828.

Their children were : Ann P. born ca. 1846, William Russell born ca. 1847, Avery Lenoir born ca.1852, Jennie Love born ca. 1853, Robert M. born Apr. 4, 1854, died Mar.15, 1870, Mary C., John Russell, and Abbie.

ABSOLEM, born ca. 1824 in Polk Co., Tn. son of Jason and Elizabeth Hicks Matlock. He married Nancy Ann Dugan born in 1827. Absolem lived in Polk Co. in 1850, but by 1880 he was in Jack Co., Tx. He fought in the Civil War, Conf. Pvt. lst. Co., 43rd Inf. and 62nd M. I. The following children were born in Tn.: Sarah Elizabeth born ca. 1845, Anna born 1846, Samuel J. born in 1847, James M. born in 1850, William born in 1856, Moore born in 1854, and Evaline. The following children were born in Tx. Jane (also shown as Mary Jane) born in 1858, John M. born in 1866, and Ellen (shows as Mary E.) born in 1870. Nancy Dugan Matlock died in Texas in 1904 as did Absolem in 1910.

ABSOLOM, born ca. 1856 in Tn. son of John P. and Tabitha Matlock. Absolom and his sister Sarah were in the household of Jethro W. Monager in Anderson Co., Tn. in 1870. (Sarah was born ca. 1852) Jethro was appointed their guardian ca. 1860.

ABSOLEM A. J., born Feb. 6, 1815 in Ky. son of Absolem and Hannah Moore Matlock. His wife was Elizabeth J. Rogers. Absolem's name appears as Medlock in Logan Co., Ky. in 1850. Absolem's children were: John D. born in 1840, Louisa J. born in 1843, James R. born in 1844, Harriet born in 1847, and Sarah born ca. 1849.

ADA B., born ca. 1870 in Tn. daughter of Jno. and Louisa Matlock. In 1870, she was in Benton Co., Tenn.

ADELINE, born ca. 1825 (prob. in Ala.) probable daughter of Moses and Frankie Canhill Matlock. Adeline married a Mr. Pope ca. 1844 and had two , children Nancy born ca. 1845, and Moses born ca. 1847. She was living in McNairy Co., Tn. in 1850 in the household of Frances Matlock, age 57.

AGATHA MEDLOCK, born ca. 1796 in Jewell, Hancock Co., Ga. daughter of George and Ferribie Smith Medlock. Agatha married James H. Woodruff ca. 1812 in Monticello, Jasper Co., Ga. Their children were Joseph born ca. 1816, Mary Ann born Jan. 14, 1818, Harriet, and Sarah born Sept. 21, 1833. The first three were born in Ga. and the youngest was born in Shelby Co., Ala. James Woodruff died Feb. 14, 1867, in Montevalle, Ala. Agatha Medlock Woodruff died in Oct. 1867 in Mantachie, Ala.

AGNES, probably a daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Terrell Matlock. Agnes married John Hightower on Mar. 22, 1790 in Caswell Co., N.C. Their son was Joshua Carney Hightower.

AGNES PEARL, born Dec. 21, 1872 in Clackamas, Ore. daughter of Noah Noble and Sarah Craghead Matlock. Agnes Pearl died Jan. 13, 1946 in Portland, Oregon. Shows 1880 Marion Co. Oregon census age 7. She never married.

AL, married Essie R. Nangle (she was born1898, parents Jacob L. and Clara Bell Woodruff Nangle) and lived in the Forest Hill Section of Crawford Co., Mo. His children were Barbara married Bert/Bart Cox, Wayne and Jack. Source: History of Forest Hill Section, Crawford Co. Mo.

ALBERT CLARK, born Nov. 21, 1861 son of John Milton and Martha L. Walker Matlock. Albert married Mary Ellen Murray born Dec. 11, 1862. Their children were Martha Elizabeth married Osto Harvey Huff, John Albert born in 1880 married Ethel Wilburn, Texas Clementine married Frank Donaho, Sarah Eleanor "Nell" married Jake Wells and Leon Wilburn, and Susan Clark married Ross Favors 4 April 1915. Albert Clark Matlock died July 8, 1894 in San Saba Co., Tx. Mary Matlock died Jan. 30, 1928.

ALBERT F., born ca. 1844 in Ohio, prob. Jefferson Co. as he was living there in 1850, son of Mary Matlock born ca. 1809 in Ohio. Albert F. married Edith Frances O'Dell in Boone Co., Arkansas.

ALBERT HENRY, married Amy P. Orme born 1860. Their children were: Milton Orme born in 1885, Harold born in 1887, and Alberta born in 1891.

ALBERT J., JR., son of Albert J. and Sallie Matlock, lived in Clark Co., Arkansas in 1880.

ALBERT S. MATLOCK, (Uncle of Edgar Matlock) (From Centennial History of Arkansas: Chicago, S.J. Clarke Pub. Co. 1922, pp 505) postmaster at Van Buren, was born at Stattler, Crawford Co., Ark. 12 April, 1880, son of William Armstrong Matlock and Harriet Stewart (daughter of Jesse). The father removed from Overton Co. Tn. to Arkansas, while Jesse Stewart, the maternal grandfather, came from Cincinnati, Ohio and settled about 5 miles north of the Figure Five post office. Mr. and Mrs. William Matlock had 9 children. Of this family, E.L. Matlock is now an attorney of Van Buren, while J.D. Matlock is an official of the Arkansas Coffin Co. The family was represented in the World War by Fred Matlock and E.L. James, two nephews of Albert S.Matlock.
Having acquired a common school education, Albert S. Matlock in 1904 became a railway mail carrier and through his entire business career has been with the mail service. After acting in his original position until 1917, he was appointed a clerk in the Van Buren P.0. and in 1919 he was appointed postmaster for the 4 years term. In 1904 Mr. Matlock was married to Miss Mina Wood, daughter of J.C. Wood of Uniontown, Ark., and sister of Dr. T.F. Wood, who was a Capt. in the U. S. Army Medical corps in the World War and served a year and a half overseas. They have seven children: Joseph B., Crystal, Goldie May, Jeanette, Albert, Armstrong and Jack Pershing.

Lulie Ann York (daughter of William A. and Nancy C. Merritt York, born 28 Mar. 1877 in Miami, Kansas died 2 Dec. 1955 Kansas City, Jackson, Mo., buried 5 Dec. 1955 Sharon Cem. Drexel?, Cass Co., Mo.).  His children are Helen Marsleet born Nov. 23, 1907 in Clinton, Mo. married 30 June 1931 Kansas City Mo. to Ira William Whitson, Margery Mae born Mar. 28, 1912 in K.C., Mo. married 7 June 1937 in Kansas City, Mo. to A. Raymond Perrins, 1 daughter Nancy Ann, and Francis Wirt born July 21, 1915 in K.C., Mo. Albert Walter Medlock died Jan. 12, 1963 in Jefferson City, Mo. and was buried Jan. 15, in Elston, Cole Co., Mo. Albert later married Ann (Bennett) Sanders in 1945. He was a contractor and a Methodist

ALEXANDER, born ca. 1858 in Tn., son of Moses (son of Jason Jr.) and Nancy ( daughter of Thomas Rogers, died Parker Co.) Matlock. Alexander married Annie Rogers and had the following children: Pearl died Dec. 1918 married a Morrow, Ruth married Geo. Brooks, Myrtle married Oliver Hutsell, and Walter. Alexander shows living in Parker Co., Texas in 1880, age 22  under David Parker.

(ALEX) D. E., born ca. 1849 in Little Rock, Ark. He married Carrie Elana (born 1862 Walker Co.Tx.) Powell in Texas after 1880. Their children are : Joe, Dovie, Eva born in 1896 had 6 children, Pete had 8 children, Minerva, Beatrice, Alex, Jr., and two older who died. Alex died in Oklahoma in 1907. Alex had 1 bro. and 1 sis. his father married 3 times

Shows on 1850 & 60 Noxubee Co. censuses in household of Samuel. Possible brother to Stephen who shows 1840 & 50 Noxubee Co. Miss. census and 1860 Ashley(bey) Co. Ark.

ALPHARD, (probably Alfred) signed a petition in Perry Co., Tennessee in 1819, but by 1820 there is no record of him living in that county.

ALFRED T., born ca. 1830 in Ill. son of Lewis Micajah and Levina Moore Matlock. Alfred married Mary N. Parkinson in 1860 in Madison Co., Ill. His occupation was listed as Jockey and Trader. Alfred T.'s children were: Maud N. born ca. 1870, and Blance (?) W. born in 1873. These children were by his second wife whose name is not provided, Mary Matlock died in 1868

They moved to Mo. sometime before 1849 where their children were born as follows Mary Elizabeth born ca. 1849, Cynthia Jane born ca. 1850, John born Oct. 20, 1851, Nancy E. born Apr. 9, 1853, Catherine born in 1855, Anderson born Dec. 22, 1857, William born in 1860, Oliver born in 1866, Robert born in 1868, and twins Dicey Ann and Doxie born in 1871. Allen Medlock died in Cole Co., Mo. in 1885.

ALPHA JANE, born ca. 1841 in Ky. daughter of Jason and Polly Moss Matlock. Alpha Jane was in Logan Co., Ky. in 1850.

ALVIN VODIE, born in 1897 in Benton Co., Tn. son of Cornelius Napoleon Matlock. His children are Virginia, A. V.,Jr., and Mary Sue. Alvin Vodie was a member of a Masonic lodge. He died in 1950 and is buried in the Camden City Cem. in Benton Co., Tn.

AMANDA, born Jan. 4, 1822, married Samuel D. Low a son of Isaac Lawson and Malinda Matlock Low. Samuel died Feb. 2, 1886 and Amanda died Dec. 24, 1891 in Brenham, Texas.

AMANDA JANE, born Dec- 30, 1900 in Mt. Enterprise, Rusk Co., Tx. She is one of the eleven children born to Lewis David and Julia Elizabeth Muller Matlock. On Aug. 29, 1919 Amanda Jane married William Francis Heaslet born Aug. 25, 1888. Their children are: Maurine (Molly) Manry Heaslet and Kenneth Randall Heaslet. Molly Heaslet married Mansel Quentin Manley on March 9, 1949, and Kenneth Heaslet married Rose Ann Lubin in Oct. of 1963. William Heaslet died Nov. 17, 1940 and is buried in the Alazan Cem. in Nacogdoches Co., Texas.

AMANDA P., born ca. 1874 in Ark. daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Matlock. Amanda P. lived in Boone Co., Ark. in 1880.

ANDERSON MEDLOCK, born in 1826 in Laurens Co., S.C. son of Silas and Catherine Murph Medlock. Anderson married Mary Andrew born in 1827 in Laurens Co. Their children were William Franklin born May 7, 1849 Matilda Jane born Jan. 7, 1852, Marietta (Molly) born in 1854, and Joseph Stacy born July 23, 1856. Anderson Medlock died in 1890 and is buried in Mt. Bethel Church Cem. in Laurens Co., S. C.

ANDERSEN MEDLOCK, born Dec. 22, 1857 in Dent, Mo. son of Allen and Serelda Steely Medlock. Andersen married Marsleet Kenney Dethridge on Dec. 19, 1881. Their children were: Albert Walter born Aug. 21, 1883, Maude born Dec. 6, 1886, in Mo. as was Albert, and Leroy Allen born Oct. 9, 1889 in Larkin, Ks. In 1860 and 1880, Andersen lived in the household of John and Mary Isabell Nester Medlock. Andersen died on May 23, 1949 in Kansas City, Mo. and is buried in the Elston Cem. in Cole Co., Mo.

Andrew J. later moved to DeSota Co., Ms. and later still he moved to Jackson Co., Ark. He enlisted in the C. S. A. under Captain Thrall's Battery of Ark. Light Artillery on June 15, 1861, at age 30. His height was given as 5'7", his eyes grey, and his hair dark.

ANDREW J., born ca. 1834. He lived In the household of Moses Bailey (step-father ?) and Mary (b. 1802) Bailey. Andrew J. lived in Hardin Co., Tenn. in 1850.

ANDREW J., born ca. 1836 in Ala. son of either Littleberry and Phoebe Tharp Matlock or Moses and Rachael Matlock. Andrew J. married Christian Matlock (b. ca. 18-17--.:Ln Ala.) Matlock was her maiden name. They married on July 2, 1854, and their children were born in Giles Co., Tn. as follows: Martha E. born ca. 1857, and Mince G. born ca. 1859. Andrew enlisted in the C. S. A. in Co. A 7th Reg.-Ala. Vol. and in Co. G 9th Ala. Cav. He died in Jan. of 1863 in Rock Island Prison in Ill. He is buried in Rock Island Grave #286.

ANDREW J., born in Clark Co., Ark. son of Thomas and Sarah Matlock. Andrew is on the 1870 census of Clark Co.

ANDREW JACKSON, born in Parker Co., Tx. in 1880 son of Jason L. and Margaret Gilliland Matlock. Andrew died in 1954 and is buried in Northfield, Texas.

ANDREW JOHNSON, lived in Crawford Co., Ark. and was a son of Joseph Warren (b. 1829) and Martha J. Lester (b. 1834) Matlock.

ANDREW K., born July 30, 1856 in Jackson Co., Ark. son of Charles H. and Catherine Kirkwood Matlock. Andrew K. married Minnie G. McMillan on June 29, 1880 and lived in Pine Bluff, Ark. where he was a Mechanic. His children were Katie B. born Sept. 4,1881, William K. born Sept. 9, 1883, John C. born July 3, 1888 died Oct. 8, 1890, Abbott E. born Feb. 15, 1891, and Maxie G. born June 22, 1894.

#2. James Moore, oldest son, b. 3-6-1716 Co. Antrim - to America with his father 1723, m. 2-16-1741 at F.M.H. New Garden M.M. Chester Co., Pa., Ann, dau. of Jeremiah and Rebecca (Jackson) Starr. She was b. 11-1-1717, d. 12th of Aug. 1761, buried at Friends Burying Ground, Sadsbury.

#3. Rebecca Moore, b. 2-16-1744 Sadsbury, Lancaster Co., Pa, d. 3-18-1813, bu. Sadsbury, rr,. 10-Z4-1764 at Friends Meeting House Sadsbury, John, son., of Calvin Cooper. John b. 12-9-1739, d. 2-15-1811.

#4- Rebecca Cooper, b. 7-25-1777 Lancaster Co., Pa., d. 7-29-1852, m., 3-21-1810 F.M.H. Sadsbury, William Kirkwood, b. 11-15-1782, d. 5-11-1847, son of William and Mary Kirkwood of Sadsbury. William was a teacher, farmer and a Quaker minister.

# 5. John Kirkwood, b. 1-18-1811, d. 8-30-1882, m. (1) 5-17-1831, Cadiz, Ohio - Elizabeth Fowler, m. (2) 6-11-1836 Chester Co., Pa. Lydia Ferre, b. 3-1-1810, d. 10-10-1878. John was a physician and lived in Little Rock, Ark.

# 6. Catherine Kirkwood, b. 5-24-1837, d. 3-23-1857 m. 11-21-1855 CHARLES H. MATLOCK, a Col. of 4th Ark. Regiment, CSA, a prisoner at Island #10 and died of disease at Johnson's Island while a prisoner.

# 7. ANDREW K. MATLOCK (only child) b. 7-30-1856, n. 6-29-1880 Minnie G., dau. of John C. and Sarah L. (Kennedy) McMillan, b. 2-23-1860. Andrew was a mechanic and lived in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Note: No’s of above are not those assigned by the author. Charles Matlock above was the son of William and Mary E. Matlock of Miss. (De Sota Co.) and before that lived in Franklin Co., Tn. Mr. Whitson descends from Andrew Moore through his son, John whose dau. Margaret, was his gr-gr-grandmother Whitson.

ANDREW PICKENS MEDLOCK, son of Vann and Mary Posey MecUock. Andrew married Mary Clark on Jan. I7, 1864 in Edgefield, S. C. they later moved to Richmond Co., Ga. When the Civil War began, Andrew enlisted in Hampton's S. C. Legion (Inf. Bat.) Co. B. Watson Guards. The company was mustered into the Confederate Service on June 12, 1861 at Charlston, S. C. for one year by Capt. Martin W. (?). He was promoted to Sgt. in the fall of 1861, was later wounded and was a P. 0. W. at Seven Pines in 1862. Andrew was exchanged and discharged on Sept. 17, 1862 he was considered over age and was placed among non-commissioned Officers.

ANDREW "ANDY", born in Mo. in 1834 son of John and Emily Matlock. Andy married Elizabeth Mote in Boone Co., Ark. Andv and his parents moved to Carroll Co., Ark. before 1850. Andy's children were: Eliza born ca. 1874, Rebecca born in 1876, and Hattie born in 1878.

ANDREW "ANDY", born ca. 1853 and lived in the household of John Wesley Matlock of Benton Co., Tn. in 1870. In 1880, Andy's age is written as 43 years old?!

ANGELINE MEDLOCK, born ca. 1846 in Ark. daughter of Lively Medlock. She lived in Green Co., Ark. in 1850.

ANGELINE E., born ca. 1848 in Ky. (prob. Warren Co.) daughter of Rial and Letitia Scrimmings Matlock.

ANNE MEDLOCK, daughter of Col. Charles and Agatha Medlock.

ANN, born ca. 1834 in Tn. daughter of Nicholas and Henrietta Binkley Matlock. Ann was in Carroll Co., Tn. in 1850.

ANN ELIZABETH MEDLOCK, born Aug. 19, 1852 daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane Stinson Medlock or B. W. Medlock and his second wife. She does not appear on the 1860 census so it is supposed that she died young.

ANN K., born ca. 1890 in Ark. daughter of Mack and Mary Matlock. In 1900 she was in Franklin Co., Arkansas.

ANNA, born ca. 1830 in N. C. (Anna may be a Garrett instead of a Matlock) and married Reuben Holloway.

ANNA, born ca. 1846 in Tenn. daughter of Absolom (b. 1827) and Ann Dugan (b. 1828) Matlock. Anna lived in Polk Co., Tennessee in 1850.

ANNA, born ca. 1842 in Ark. daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Matlock. She was in Carroll Co., Ark. in 1850.

ANNA, born ca.1844 in Tn. daughter of Clinton and Susanna Weaver Matlock. Anna moved to Hot Springs, Ark. before 1850 and to Marion Co., Ark. before 1860.

ANNA, daughter of John (b. 1825 in Ky.) and Rebecca (b. 1829 in Bohemia) Matlock. Anna lived in Green Co., Ill. in 1880.

ANNA MAE VIRGINIA, married Thomas Pierre Wirfs. Their children are: Thomas Pierre, Jr. born Apr. 23, 1951 in Ashland, Ky., Patricia Lynn born July 5. 1953 in Portsmouth, Ohio, David Mitchell born Oct. 14,1954 also in Portsmouth, and James Martin born June 23, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri.

ANNIE E., born ca. 1855 in Pa. and moved to Pottawatomie Co., Ks. By 1900.

ANNIE, born ca. 1862 in Texas daughter of Stephen T. and Elizabeth Tillman Matlock. Annie lived in Shelby Co., Tx. in 1880.

ANTOINETTE, born ca. 1859 in Tn. daughter of Henry (son of Nicholas) and Elizabeth Matlock. Antoinette lived in Henderson Co., Tn. in 1870.

ARBA LEE WILLIAMS MEDLOCK, born Aug. 21, 1877 wife of William Medlock and daughter of Stephen and Kate Williams. Arba Medlock died in Washington Co., Ind. on Feb. 28, 1942.

ARCH A., born ca. 1831 in Tn. died in July of 1860 after a,five week illness, cause unknown. Arch lived in Jackson Co., Ala. and was a laborer.

ARIZONA, born ca. 1868 in Ark. probably Independence Co. as she was living there in 1870. Arizona was a daughter of Robert and Josephine Matlock.

ARTEMIS, married Elijah Benton on Feb. 10, 1827 in Maries Co., Mo.

ASBERRY, born ca. 1874 in Ark. son of Smith and Mary E. Butler Matlock. Asberry lived in Boone Co., Ark. in 1880.

AUGUSTUS, born ca. 1822. In 1850, he was single and living in Lafayette House in Tippicanoe Co., Ind. He was a merchant.

AUGUSTUS, born ca. 1866 in Tn. son of Jasper S. and Martha Heflin Matlock. Augustus lived in Giles Co., Tn. in 1880.

AUTHOR (ARTHUR?) MEDLOCK, born ca. 1879 in Ark. son of William F. and Emma C. Medlock. He was in Independence Co., Ark. in 1880.

AUSTIN C. MEDLOCK, born ca. 1848 in Ms. son of Simpson (b. ca. 1821 in S. C.) and Malinda G. (b. ca. 1828 in S. C.) Medlock. Austin lived in Chickasaw Co., Ms. in 1850.

AUTHOR, brother to J. D. and Samuel Jefferson Matlock.

AVERY L., born Apr. 23, 1852 in Roane Co., Tn. son of Col. Absolom (son of Jason #I) and Margaret Russell Matlock. Avery L.'s wives were Annie Herbert, Alice Hyatt, and Susan Polk Hyman. He lived in Roane Co., Blount Co., and Louden Co., Tn. and by 1873, he was in Montague Co., Texas. Avery L. moved to Bexar Co., Tx. later. His daughter by Susan Hyman Matlock was Ruth Russell.
