BARTON, born ca. 1833 son of Johnson and Dolly Matlock. Dolly's maiden name was Matlock. Barton lived in Hancock Co., Tn. in 1850.

BELL, born ca. 1859 in Ark. daughter of Smith and Rebecca Matlock. She lived in Bell Co., Tx. in 1870.

BELLE MEDLOCK, born in 1880 in Wa. daughter of William and Susan J. Medlock. She was born in Cowlitz Co.

BEN F., born Dec. 23, 1854 son of E. M. (Ned) and Sarah Matlock. Ben married Amanda Choate born Feb. 22, 1862. They had a daughter named Perle (Pearl). Ben F. died on June 25, 1925 in Humphreys Co., Tn. and is buried there in the Ebinezer Church Cem.

BENJAMIN, born ca. 1848 in Tn. son of William (b. ca. 1822 in Tn.) and Mary (b. ca. 1830 in Tn.) Matlock. Benjamin was living in Hood Co., Tx. in 1870.

BENJAMIN MEDLOCK, probably a son of William and Nancy Matlock, but possibly a son of Luke Matlock. Benjamin married Charity (probably Choate) Matlock. He lived in Carroll Co., Tn. in 1830 and 1840 and by 1850 he was in Dade Co., Mo. His sons were Luke and Edward, other possibilities are Nancy, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Martha.

BENJAMIN MEDLOCK, born Sept. 20, 1785 in S. C. son of Samuel and Ellen Medlock. Benjamin married Jane Swearingen born Feb. 8, 1790 in Edgefield, S. C. on May 5, 1807. He lived in Fayette and Hardeman Co’s., Tn. in the household of Jno. Alfred. Benjamin was an importer of slaves some of whom were bought in Nov. of 1818 by agent Fred Swearingen, his father-in-law. Benjamin and Jane's children were Thomas born Aug. 20, 1808, John A. born Feb. 12, 1812, Janate (possibly Harriet) born May 20, 1814, Sarah born Mar. 12, 1810, and Benjamin, Jr. born July 5, 1816 all in S. C. Benjamin died on Sept. 14, 1874.

BENJAMIN, son of Luke Matlock, married Charity Choate and had the following children: Luke, Edward, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Nancy. He bought 100 acres in Humphreys Co., Tn. from Willis Norsworthy in 1816, in 1819, he signed a petition in Humphreys Co. and he was a road worker with Thomas Matlock from the county line to Charlotte. In 1812 he enlisted in Capt. James Craig's Co. from Humphreys Co. From 1814 to 1815 he was Capt. Joe William's Co. from Dickson Co., Tn. lst Tn. Mil. Dyer's Regiment. Benjamin was named a juror on Sept. 13, 1831 in Carroll Co., Tn. and on Dec. 10, 1832 he was deeded 75 acres from James J. Owenby.

BENJAMIN, born Jan. 20, 1779 son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Terrell Matlock. He married Polly Lea (b. June 14, 1784 in Caswell Co., N. C.) on Jan. 21, 1806. Their children were Betsy born Dec. 2, 1806, Judith born Nov. 25, 1810, Nancy born Aug. 2, 1811, Leathy born July 26, 1814, John Thomas born May 31, 1817, Benjamin born Mar. 6, 1819, William born Sept. 6, 1824, Nicholas born May 2, 1822, and Polly born Sept. 22, 1808.

BENJAMIN, son of William and Nancy Simpson Matlock married Hetty born ca. 1809 in N.C. Benjamin was in Davidson Co., N. C. in 1840. He was dead before 1850. His children were William J. (I?) born ca. 1834, B. B. born ca. 1836, James born ca. 1838, Thomas born ca. 1839, and Elizabeth born ca. 1841.

BENJAMIN F., born ca. 1820 in Ga. son of Charles ? and Martha Latimer Matlock. Benjamin married Eliza J. Whaley (b. ca. 1822 in Ga.), and lived in Hancock Co., Ga. next to Montgomery S. Matlock. Benjamin and Eliza's children were Thomas L. born ca. 1839, Martha A. E. born ca. 1841, William M. born ca. 1843, Mary E. P. born ca. 1846, and John W. born ca. 1848.

BENJAMIN F., son of Christina Matlock born ca. 1846 in Ms. Benjamin was in Hempstead Co., Ark. in 1860.

BENJAMIN F., born ca. 1849 in Ky. son of Joel E. and Elizabeth Dyer Matlock. He lived in Warren Co.

BENJAMIN S. MEDLOCK, born ca. 1834 in Tn. son of John A. and Mary L. Forsythe Medlock. Benjamin married Julia Jennings in July of 1869. He lived in Tippah Co., Ms. in 1850 and 1860 and by 1870 he was in Saline Co., Ark. His children were Rosa born Dec. 24, 1870, and Milton born ca. 1872 in Collegeville, Ark. Benjamin died Sept. 3, 1908.

BENTON, born Aug. 29, 1854, died Sept. 15, 1854 son of Thomas Simpson and Mary Alexander Matlock.

BENTON LA FAYETTE, son of James M. and Sarah Lantz Matlock. Benton married Eleanor Hudson and had the following children Luther, Oliver, Warren, and Mary Tennessee.

BERNICE, born Oct. 9, 1915 in Mt. Enterprise, Rusk Co., Tx. Daughter of Lewis David and Julia Elizabeth Muller Matlock. Bernice died on July 19, 1916 and was buried at Isbell Chapel, Rusk Co.,Texas.

BERRY B. Matlock,Capt. C.S.A. (by John Ardis Manry, Plain Dealing, La.)Captain Berry B. Matlock (son of Littleberry and Nancy Matlock) was born in Limestone County, Alabama 28 October 1829 and came to Bossier Parish when a boy, where he lived until, three weeks before his death in a Shreveport hospital 6 February 1896.He had been a member of the Bossier Boys, the first company to be organized. The State not being ready for them they were sent home, and he then enlisted in the Vance Guards.When Captain Richard W. Turner was promoted to colonel, Matlock succeeded him. After the Battle of Chickamauga Captain H.A. Kennedy of Company C informed Matlock's superiors: "It is exceedingly difficult to draw distinction between officers or men where all do their full part, yet I must be allowed to notice particularly Captain B.B. Matlock of Company A." Matlock was later wounded at Forsyth, Ga. 28 July 1864 and was returned to Louisiana for recruiting service at the request of General Richard Taylor. He was paroled with his company at Meridian, Miss., 10 May 1865.The captain was married to Miss Corrilla J. Whorton on 28 October 1869 (in Rocky Mt., Bossier Parish, La.). Rev. A. Winham, Baptist minister at Rocky Mount performed the ceremony, according to Caddo Parish marriage records. She was born 22 October 1850 and died soon after their marriage on 2 May 1871. He remained a widower the remainder of his life, living among friends and relatives near Collingsburg.At Matlock's death a compatriot, Editor W.H. Scanland of the Bossier Banner, wrote: "He rose from a private to a captain of his company. He was a good soldier - none more gallant - and was always prompt in the discharge of his duty. He was a generous, warmhearted man, true to his friends, country and convictions. Gallant, courteous and honest to the core, he drew friends to him and held them. Always liberal; ever actuated by the right, his genial presence will be missed by a host of friends in Bossier, who will learn with profound regret of his sad death.His remains were laid beside his beloved Corilla in the Cottage Grove Cemetery and was followed a month later with Masonic rites by Cypress Lodge No. 89, F&AM. His grave remained unmarked for 77 years when a member of the General Richard Taylor Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, discovered it by diligent research. A marker was dedicated to his memory by the "Sons of the Confederate Veterans" on June 3, 1973 at the Cottage Grove Cem. in Plain Dealing, La.

BERTHA, born in Lane Co., Ore. in 1868 daughter of E. P. and Eliza Jane Bennett Matlock. Bertha married Frank J. Richardson. She died in 1949 in Portland, Ore.

BERTHA M., born ca. 1878 in Wa., daughter of James R. and Nancy V. Matlock. She lived in Cowlitz Co., Wa. in 1880.

BERTIE DEE, born Feb. 9, 1903 in Mt. Enterprise, Rusk Co., Tx. daughter of Lewis David and Julia Elizabeth Muller Matlock. In 1924, she married James Albert Greer born Oct. 10, 1898. James Greer died on Feb. 22, 1965 and is buried in Nacogdoches Go., Tx. Their children are D. Gene, Janelle, and Jimmy Louis.

BERTIS M., born July 23, 1911 son of Robert H. and Mary E. Vardeman Matlock. Bertis married Aslee Johnson born Nov. 3, 1910.and had a son named Bertis born Aug. 8, 1938. Bertis M. died Nov. 26, 1960 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches, Tx. he was a "Woodman of the World" and a sheriff in Nacogdoches Co., Tx.

BESSIE LEE, born July 6, 1917 in Mt. Enterprise, Rusk Co., Tx. daughter of Lewis David and Julia Elizabeth Muller Matlock. On Nov. 22, 1936 she married Lucien Clamon born Nov. 3, 1913 and had the following children Glenda Anne, Joy Beth, Ronald Lucien, and Donna Gayle.

BESSIE M., married William E. Shephard on Feb. 18, 1896 in Clark Co., Missouri.

BETTY, born ca. 1863 in Tx. daughter of Stephen T. and Elizabeth Tillman Matlock. Betty lived in Shelby Co., Tx. in 1880.

BEULAH, born ca. 1898 in Mo. and lived in Brown Co., Ks. in 1900.

BILLIE, child of Ross Matlock was living in Nacogdoches, Tx. in 1981.

BINKLEY, born ca. 1842 in Tn. son of Nicholas and Henrietta Binkley Matlock. In 1850 he was in Carroll Co., Tn., in 1860 he was in Madison Co., Tn. and in 1870 he was in Gibson Co., Tn. His children were Martha M. and Nicholas.

BIRD, born ca. 1785 in Va. probably a son of John Matlock. In 1807, he was in Washington Co., Tn. by 1820 he was in Perry Co., Tn., and in 1850 he was in Clark Co., Ark. Bird served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Nathan Peoples' Co. He later enlisted in Stewart Co., Tn. in Capt. James Haggard's Co. Bird was one of the signers of a petition in Perry Co., Tennessee in 1819.

BLANCHE MEDLOCK, born in Salem, Ind. daughter of Riley and Alice (Bobbs?) Medlock. She died on E. Mulberry St., Salem, Ind. on Mar. 15, 1888.

BOLEY, born ca. 1834 in Tn. son of Thomas and Sophia Boxley Matlock. He married Emiline born ca. 1843 in Tn. and moved to Clark Co., Ark. by 1850. Their children were Panola born in 1859, Laura born in 1861, Nancy born in 1865, Susan born in 1867, Martha born in 1869, Josephine born in 1872, Mary born in 1874, and Rosey born in 1879.

BOYD, born Feb. 27, 1891 in Benton Co., Tennessee.

BRUCE, born Dec. 24, 1851 in Rush Co., Ind. son of Thomas Simpson and Mary Alexander Matlock. Bruce married Laura Belle Owens on Oct.22, 1874 and had the following children Nellie (Newbold), Bert, Harry, Walter, and Minnie who died young. Bruce Matlock died on Apr. 1, 1926.
