GABRIEL, born ca 1805 Davidson Co., Tenn., son of William and Mary Simpson Matlock. Wife Elizabeth, born ca 1813. Children (from census only): Wm. H., N. G., Mary E., Jasper N. and female unnamed at that time.

GENERAL SAM HOUSTON, born July 8, 1858 at Mt. Enterprise, Rusk Co. , Texas, son of Claiborne P. and Margaret Elizabeth (Frame) Matlock. He remarried June 27, 1878 in Rusk Co., Texas Sarah Josephine Gatlin. They had the following children: Edgar H., J. Eugene, Murphy Judson, Cary Elizabeth, Maudie Lee, Eva Mae and Lee Roy. General Sam died in 1937 at Altus, Jackson Co., Oklahoma.

GEORGE, born 1820 in Virginia, wife, Elizabeth Wells , born 1828 in Virginia. Lived in Lee Co., Va. and Andrews Co., Mo. Their children as sent to me: Catherine, Squire Well and James.

GEORGE, bought land in Hawkins Co., Tenn. 1844 and 1846. Probably the son of Richard. I have been sent a date of birth as March 11, 1818; however, this does not agree with census 1840 Hawkins Co. Tenn. so may or may not be same George. George, son of Richard, married Elizabeth Weddle. The 1870 census of Jackson Co., Ind. shows George as 53 born in Tenn., Betsey 37, born Tenn. and J. B. 13 (male) born Ind., M. J. 11 (female) and E. E. 7 (female) born Ind.

GEORGE, born ca 1767 in S. C. married September 8, 1789,in Richmond Co., Ga. Mary Pearre. This marriage is also listed in Edgefield , S. C. Marriages and shown as Family Records.

GEORGE C., born 13 April, 1774 in Henry Co., Va., son of, David and Margaret Matlock. He married Susan (?) Turney, daughter of Peter and Frankie (Haynes) Turney. Lived in Smith Co., Tenn. 1805-1815 (maybe longer). He served as Sheriff, served in Assembly and was a Mason. A Susan Matlock is listed 1850 Wilson Co. Tenn. census living alone, age 70. There is listed in Will Book 1805-1833, pp. 26 of Smith Co., Tenn. a will for George.

GEORGE LAFAYETTE MEDLOCK, In Monroe Co., Ala. 1830. Was census enumerator. Was Sheriff of Monroe Co. in 1831. Not there in 1840. Could be George shown above. I have heard of a Medlock-William B. Travis relationship and this could be the link since Travis was in Monroe Go. at this time.

GEORGE, son of William, Sr. and Sarah. Died October 25, 1826. He was killed during an affray with his brother-in-law which resulted in the first murder trial in Indiana. He was rnarried to Sarah Lee and had the following children: Thomas, Susan, Nancy, George and Martha.

Had no children by last two. By Margaret Bassett had : Martha J., Margaret E., Joseph Warren and three who did not live to adulthood. Lived in Grainger Co., Tn. then to Crawford Co., Ark.
