In consideration of the love we have for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
in Sparta Presbytery Tennessee we W. C. West & wife Elizabeth West; Maranda
Johnson, Landona Loftis, J. P. West, Almon West, G. W. West, Mary Bartlett,
June Bartlett, I. L. West, Dora Pendergrass, J. L. West, Harrison Loftis,
Jr, and W. C. West, Jr. do by these presents give transfer and convey to
W. C. West Elder of Spring Creek Congregation of the C. P. Church and as
Trustee, and J. P. West and Harrison West, Jr. and Almon West as Trustees
and their successors in office forever for the benefit of said Spring Creek
Congregation of the C. P. Church, the following described tract or piece
of land lying in the 15th Civil District of Putnam County Tennessee on the
Waters of Spring Creek and bounded as follows, beginning at a stone
marked A on the West side of the public road, and running North 81 3/4 degrees
West 37 poles to a stone marked B above the Spring thence North 2 poles to
a stone marked C below the Spring thence North 60 1/2 degrees East 20 poles
to a stone marked D thence East 21 poles to a stone marked E on the West
side of the road thence South 5 degrees West with the road 17 poles to the
beginning - said Spring Creek Church being situated on said land to have
and to hold the same to the said Elder and Trustees and their successors
in office forever. It is agreed and understood that all orthodox Christians
may have preaching in said house so as not to conflict with the services
of the said C. P. Church - but no church to be organized in said house or
church. We convinat with said W. C. West, J. P. West, and Harrison
Loftis, Jr., and Almon West as Elder and Trustees that we are lawfully seized
of said land and have a good right to convey it and we will warrant the title
thereunto the parties herein conveyed to, for the purposes expressed herein,
and their successors in office forever, against the claims of all persons
whomsoever this conveyance carries with it the church house and the grave
yard or cemetery thereon, with all expertainances thereto witness our
hand this 16th day of December A. D. 1896

Personally appeared before me Henry P Davis a Notary Public in and for said
county. W C West, Elizabeth West, J P West, Almon West, Harrison Loftis,
Jr., Dora Pendergrass, S. J. Bartlett, Landona Loftis, J. L. West, I. L.
West, and George W West and W. C. West, Jr. bargainors with whom I am personally
acquainted and who acknowledged that they executed the within deed of gift
for the purposes therein expressed, and Elizabeth West wife of W C West,
Dora Pendergrass wife of Travis Pendergrass, S. J. Bartlett wife of Josiah
Bartlett, M E Bartlett wife of P D Bartlett, Landona Loftis wife of Harrison
Loftis having appeared before me privately and apart from their said husbands
and acknowledged the execution of the said gift deed or within instrument
to have been executed by each of them freely voluntarially and understandingly
without compulsion or constraint from their said husbands and for the purposes
therein expressed. Witness my hand and notarial seal at office the
16th day of December A D 1896.
