It has an index and several files, or if you would rather, a zip file for downloading the entire census. The following show up in the index. There are no examples of TOLBY. TAULBEE Ira 611; James 337, 753; Jefferson 747; William 191, 290, 752 http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/breathitt/Breathitt.html and also avail From: Bob George 2/1/99 5:39 PM Subject: [TAULBEE-L] Alexander Taulbee Resent-From: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com Our new list cousin Bess Miller has posted biographical sketch to our Taulbee Biographies board which corrects some information in Rose's book. You can read it by going to the board. Click on http://www.doitnow.com/~moravia/genc.html When you post to one of the surname boards, any surname board, please include in the surname field all surnames in the post. It makes the search engine much more effective and helps those who have no idea they have a Taulbee connection possibly find out that they do. I edit our boards to include them, but I cannot edit those that I do not administer. Thank you Bess From: Bob George 2/19/99 4:13 PM Subject: [TAULBEE-L] URL to remove the Trojan Horse Resent-From: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com You will see a lot of warnings about not opening an attachment called Happy99.exe This is not a virus, but a worm. What it is and how to get rid of it should you accidently get it via a newsgroup or email can be found at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/happy99.worm.html I thought I would post this so you can deal with the warnings and counter-warnings that are going to appear on the web. While a text attachment cannot carry a virus, this is an executable program attachment which can. Good rule of thumb is simpy do not open an attachment with an exe extention from an unknown source. -- From: hgask10543@juno.com 2/20/99 8:23 AM Subject: [TAULBEE-L] Taulbee obit Resent-From: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com Published in the Lexington Herald Newspaper, Lexington, KY Wednesday, February 10, 1999 JACKSON, KY -- Laura Lee Haynes Taulbee, 82, Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Breathitt County, homemaker, widow of Will Press Taulbee, died Monday. NAME: Cory Dee Tolby Steely EMAIL: p11zp368@goldrush.com SURNAMES: TOLBY DATE: Feb 21 1999 QRYTEXT: I have been adopted, and I am trying to find out where my biological father is buried, and more about his side of my family. My father's name was Sean David TOLBY. At one time he was a member of the Chocolate Watch Band. I understand he killed himself, perhaps in or around Modesto, California. I found him in the SSDI, born 27 Jul 1943, died Nov 1990. It didn't say where. I would hope to find his obituary.. rom: "Dynasty" 2/21/99 11:33 PM Subject: [TAULBEE-L] Census for :Magoffin & Morgan Co, KY Resent-From: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0024_01BE5DEA.2FD262C0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit George: I am not sure how to get this information into circulation, so I am sending to you as attached files. Found this which I cannot connect to Rose's Book. TOLBY, Anderson; Calaveras county; pg 351, township 9 National Archives Microfilm M653 #57 L.D.S. Genealogy library 803057 Up until now, I have only found two TOLBY that are not of one of our lines. Both were Irish Famine Immigrants in the 1840s. Have no clue as to if this one is ours or a stray. Do we have any evidence as to where out Taulbee's came from? Is it England possibly William the Conqueror as I have heard? Bess From: Bob George 2/27/99 2:14 PM Subject: Re: [TAULBEE-L] 1860 Anderson Tolby Resent-From: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com We have no valid information except that Talby is common in the London area and Tolby has, on rare occations, immigrated from Ireland. The first Talby showed up in the Bay Colony. Everything else is unfounded speculation as to the origin of the name. Taulbee is a KY spelling variant and is now the most common. It and Tolby are pronouced the same. The spelling seems to depend upon where the eary Taulbees/Tolbys went to school and any attempt to draw inference as to the origin of the name goes nowhere. We have to find first that connection on the other side of the pond before we can begin to answer the question.
