Much of the following information comes from a post to the Taulbee List on 29 November 1999 by List Cousin Velma Atkinson.  The complete post can be found in the list archives.  Other comes from email to the project from Velma.

Malinda TAULBEE  was born 10 April 1891 and was the daughter of John C. B. TAULBEE and Margaret ALLEN.  (John was the son of William Lee Taulbee, who was the son of Jefferson Davis Taulbee.  Jefferson Davis was the son of William Ashford Taulbee, the grandson of Samuel Tolby, and the g-grandson of William Hitchcock Talbee/Tolby).  Malinda died 28 March 1922 (Death certificate #14775). (Information given by  husband, Sheldon Fugate.  He lists Malinda’s mother as Sarah Allen.)

1st Marriage was to John Lucas on 26 March 1909 in Breathitt Co., KY.  One son, Claude, born about 1910.  He is shown in 1910 census with Malinda and 1920 census with Sheldon and Malinda.

26 March 1909 Linda Bell Taulbee, 17, 1st marriage, and John Lucas, 17, 1st marriage, by Wm. Taulbee at J.C.B. Taulbee's. Witt: Samuel and Henry

In the 1910 Breathitt Co. census Linda Lucas 18, and baby Claude 3/12, live next door to J.C.B. Taulbee.

2nd marriage to Sheldon Fugate s/o James Lewis CAMPBELL/FUGATE and Nancy HAYS in Breathitt Co. 1 April 1912.

The following information is found on page 26 of Rose Taulbee's book on the Taulbee family and is presented without further documentation at this time.

Sheldon was  half-brother to Susan HAYS

Sheldon was  b. February 1887 d. 18 October 1878

Melinda's full siblings were:

David born in December of 1888.  He married a -?- Wilson.

Peggy born in December of 1893.  She married a -?- Banks.

Velma Atkinson provided the following information re the above:

I show Curtis Linden as the son of Wm. Linden and Cordia Steele.  I have his
marriage license and that is who is shown as his parents.  He is listed as a stepson of John Taulbee's in the 1910 census.  He was born 29 January 1895 and died 11 October 1918.  Curtis married Sophia Taulbee, d/o Samuel Elsberry Taulbee and Susan Hays  on 24 September 1917. They had a daughter Dovia.

In the Breathitt Co. Marriage Book:

1 April 1898 Cordelia Hays, 23, 2nd marriage and J. C. B Taulbee, 35, 3rd
marriage.

23 June 1914 Cordelia Taulbee, 41, (Morgan) 2nd marriage (father Alison Hughes) and Edward Steele, 39, (Morgan), 2nd marriage.

In 1917, when Curtis married Sophia, his mother would have been a Steele.  Maybe that is why he listed her as a Steele on his marriage license.

[We must allow records to speak for themselves and not make certain corrections in them.  In the above, if Cordelia Hays and Cordelia Taulbee are the same individual, and her maiden name is Hughes, then it would seem to follow that these cannot both be a second marriage for her.  I am speculating that these are the 2nd and 3rd marriages for her.  B.G.]

Albert born in April 1896.  He married Anna Quicksall on April 14, 1915.  Anna is identified by Rose Taulbee as a step daughter to Henry Wayne Taulbee, the son of William Lee Taulbee.  She also speculates that she could be instead Anna Lykins.

Velma also provides information that Malinda's full siblings were named David, Peggy, and Albert.

Malinda's half siblings from father's marriage to Cordelia Hughes:

Dewey was born in 1898 - the only sibling still living in 1980.  He married Nancy Taulbee on May 25, 1918.  This was her second marriage.  She had previously been married to Samuel H. Taulbee, the son of Henry Wayne Taulbee.  Henry was the son of William Lee Taulbee.

Seldon was born in February of 1900.  He married -?- Spencer.

Rose married-?- Banks and then Clarence Taulbee on July 4, 1918.  Clarence was the son of Floyd Taulbee.  Floyd was the son of William Lee and Gehazie Taulbee.

Lerman married-?- Caruer.

Willard married-?- Rawlins.
