Stephen Talby

Stephen Talby, son of John Talby and Dorothy (-?-) married twice:  (1) Hannah Lane, daughter of James Lane (of Plymouth, England) and (2) Hannah Nelson.  Stephen was Captain of the ketch Adventurer.

Stephen Talby of Boston, New England, mariner aged 40. He was Master of  the Adventurer which left Boston on 18 December 1657 with a lading of sugar, oils, fish and skins. While she was between Plymouth and Dartmouth on 28 January 1657/8 she was captured by an Osten man of war but, in an attempt to take her into ostend, the Adventurer ran aground on the coast of Normandy during a storm and was lost.

 ...This vessel was owned by William Payne of Boston, in October, 1657, Stephen Talby, master.  The owner purposed to send it on a voyage to England, on account of Simon Bradstreet, on an adventure to London, with sugar consigned to Peter Cole of London, merchant, Dec. 17, 1657.
