About this database: First, I want to thank my many new Bailey, Brady, Hitchcock, and Taulbee cousins for providing much of the information in this data base. A special thanks goes to Carole Bays who so graciously donated so many years of her research and to William H. Taulbee for generously giving me his copy of Rose Taulbee's family history. Much of the following data is based upon the work of the late Rose Taulbee. Her documentation was destroyed upon her death, leaving much of the following, while probably true, to various degrees now undocumented. One of the tasks of the Taulbee Family Discussion Group on Rootsweb is to redocument what we can. With that caveat, the following is provided for your use.
Second, I have a problem with posting information on individuals who are probably living. In order to respect the privacy of living individuals, I have, to the extent practical, refrained from posting information on individuals born after WWI. This cutoff date is arbitrary, but in the search for family roots, information on those born after the Great War should not normally be required. Those in need of such information may email me and I will provide what is available.
Third, as with all databases, much of the information is incomplete and may contain inaccuracies. Any comments, additions, or corrections, especially corrections, will gladly be received. As with all genealogical information, information provided by family members is sometimes inaccurate due to faulty memory; even the census contains inaccurate information. With many marriages being at common law or performed by itinerant preachers, with marriages, births and deaths not being recorded officially, of if recorded, the records destroyed by the Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War, in addition to floods and fires, 100 percent accuracy may be impossible. This data base is placed here as the best information I have at this time with the hope that it may be of assistance to someone, that my many newly discovered cousins will add to it, and when inaccuracies are discovered, be kind enough to correct me. The final phase of this project will assign degrees of confidence to segments of the data base. That will not be accomplished until all the data is posted and I can determine from how many different sources the information has come from, and how much of the data has actually come from a common source even though I have received it from different individuals.
Fourth, in order to prevent long delays in loading and scrolling through the index I am creating, I have broken it into alphabetical sections. While the database is not large as I begin, it will eventually contain several thousand entries. Drop by now and then and watch it grow.
