William Lee taulbee

William Lee Taulbee, son of Jefferson Davis Taulbee and Alice Temperance Hill, was born in January of 1845 in Breathitt County and died January 1, 1924 in Breathitt County. William married Fanny J. Dunn, the daughter of John Dunn and Margaret (Peggy) Taulbee. Fanny was born in 1841 and died February 28, 1878, from a horse riding accident. After Fanny's death William married a cousin, Gehazie D. Gullett, the daughter of (-?-) and Cynthia Taulbee on April 29, 1878. Gehazie was born March, 1862 and died August 10, 1942.

William Lee Taulbee was a Baptist minister who performed many marriages around Breathitt County.

Children of William and Fanny:

Henry Wayne Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, born October, 1864 and died in February of 1932 and is buried at Field Branch Cemetery in Breathitt County. He married Lucinda Allen, the daughter of Joseph D. Allen and Rebecca Taulbee, on April 7, 1883 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Lucinda was born in 1858 and died in 1896. Henry then married Mrs Emily Quicksall Lykins on October 29, 1897. She was born April 1874 and died in November, 1943.

Children of Henry and Lucinda:

1. Edward Taulbee, born April 1884, not known to have married.

2. Samuel H. Taulbee, born June 1886, (twin to Joseph), married Nancy E. Taulbee, daughter of John Miles Taulbee, granddaugther of John Taulbee, Jr. See Dewey Taulbee who is also reported to have married Nancy. I don't know which marriage came first, if this is in fact what happened.

3. Joseph Henry Taulbee, (twin to Samuel H.), born June 1886, not known to have married.

4. Sabrina Taulbee, born September, 1896. She marriedHenry Smith. They are reported to have had seven children.

Children of Henry and Emily:

1. Stella Taulbee, born September 25, 1898. She married (-?-) Tyler, the son of William Tyler and Frankie Jane Allen. He was born in 1889 in Magoffin County. The marriage was performed by her grandfather, William Lee Taulbee.

2. Florence Taulbee, born 1901. She married Richard Deaton, son of John Deaton and Rebecca (-?-) on April 23, 1919, in Breathitt County, Kentucky. They are reported to have had seven children.

3. Lillie Catherine Taulbee, born August 23, 1902 in Breathitt County. She died December 14, 1994 in Breathitt County and is buried in Field Branch Cemetery. She married Henry King, son of William Harrison King and Sarah Jane Davis. They are reported to have lived on Negro Branch until 1980 and then on Johnson Fork, Breathitt County.

4. Kelly Taulbee married Ressie Gillum, daughter of Orul Gillum and (-?-). Re Orul Gillum, see Chester Taulbee.

5. Carrie Taulbee, born 1905 ** Rose Taulbee does not mention this daughter and I wonder if she does not belong with Jesse James Taulbee below:

6. Kaiser Jefferson Taulbee, born 1906. He married Ethel Banks, daughter of Bruce Banks and Kizzie Brummett, in 1925. Ethel was born February 21, 1911.

7. Chester Taulbee was born March 22, 1911 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. He married Mary Gillum, daughter of Orul Gillum and (-?-).

8. Orville Taulbee married Ethel Banks, daughter of James Banks and America King. Ethel was born August 31, 1921.

9. Easter Taulbee was born March 23, 1913 in Breathitt County, Kentucky and died October 5, 1994 and is buried in Field Branch Cemetery. She married Jesse Barnett on October 21, 1937. Jesse was born May 29, 1913. She may have been married earlier, on March 8, 1935, to Roscoe Banks, son of Joe Banks and Florence (-?-).

John C. B. Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born August 1862/3. He married three times:

1. Rinda (-?-) who died Jan 18, 1888 in Wolfe County, Kentucky.

2. Margaret Allen.

3. Cordelia Hughes, born 1876.

One of the final two, I am guessing Cordelia Hughes, married Edward Steel on June 23, 1914.

I have no children by John and Rinda.

3. Curtis Lindon Taulbee was born in January, 1895. The 1910 Breathitt County census lists him as a step son.

4. Albert Taulbee was born in 1896.

5. Dewey Taulbee was born in June of 1898. He married Nancy Taulbee, daughter of John Miles Taulbee and granddaughter of John Taulbee, Jr. Nancy was born May 7, 1894.

6. Seldon Taulbee was born in February of 1900 and married (-?-) Spencer.

Seldon Taulbee(b. Feb 1900) had two wives, the first wife I am unsure
of her name, but his second wife was Martha Ruth Jarrels. Seldon and
Martha had 6 children toghether that I know of. Seldon died in 1950.
Martha died in the mid-70's. Seldon and Martha are my mothers parents....Seldon died in 1957.

Also there is a caption where you state That Sammuel H. Taulbee was
married to Nancy Taulbee, but that Nancy was also marked as being
married to Dewey Taulbee. ... Nancy (also known as Nanny Taulbee), was married to two Taulbees. [Do] not [know] the name of her first husband but her second husband was Dewey. ... They both died pretty close to each other (time wise) in the late 80's early 90's.... Seldon, is my late-grandfather. As I know the family, they lived in northern Kentucky, in the Quicyarea, across the river from Portsmouth, OH.]

7. Rose Taulbee married Clarence Taulbee, son of Floyd Taulbee and Nan McPherson, on July 4, 1915 (or 1918). Clarence was born in 1901. Rose is reported to have been previously married to a (-?-) Banks.

8. Lerman Taulbee married (-?-) Carter.

9. Willard Taulbee married (-?-) Rawlins.

10. Myrtle Taulbee married (-?-) Jenkins.

Mary Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born in 1866. I have no information on spouses nor children.

Jesse James Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born in August of 1867. He married twice: (1) Lou Ellen McPherson, daughter of John McPherson.(2) Emily Banks on December 26, 1908 in Breathitt County. Emily was born in June, 1882.

Children of Jesse and Lou Ellen:

1. Zerilda Taulbee was born in September of 1887. She married twice; first to (-?-) Bleven and then to John Miles Lacy.

2. Mary Elizabeth Taulbee was born October 22, 1888 and died January 23, 1979 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. She is buried in the Litteral Cemetery in Breathitt County. She married McClellen Litteral on August 29, 1903. McClellen was born March 12, 1885 and died August 16, 1953 in Breathitt County and is buried in the Literal Cemetery.

Children of Mary and McClellan:

(1). Cordelia Litteral was born in 1906. She marriedDennis Carpenter, son of Peter Carpenter and Vina Belle Holbrook. Dennis was born in 1903 and died November 7, 1996 in Breathitt County.

3. John Lacy Taulbee was born in September of 1891. He married four times: (1) Cleta Nichols. (2) Lillie Banks on November 13, 1919. (3) Martha Moore. (4) Cora Elam.

4. William Lee Taulbee was born in April of 1895 He married Edna Lykins, daughter of John Lykins and Sarah Pence and sister to Carrie Lykins, wife of James Perry Taulbee, Below, on May 8, 1919 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. Edna was born November 6, 1902 and died March 6, 1993 in Breathitt County and is buried in the Taulbee Cemetery, Field Branch.

5. James Perry Taulbee was born in November, 1899. He maried Carrie Lykins, daughter of John Lykins and Sarah Pence and sisted to Edna Lykins, wife of William Lee Taulbee, above.

Samuel Elsbery Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born April 14, 1868 and died April 16, 1941. He is buried in Field Branch Cemetery. He married five times. (1) He marriedPhoebe Banks in 1886 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. Phoebe wa born in 1868. (2) He marriedSusan Hayes on February 15, 1894 in Breathitt County. Susan was born in July of 1877. (3) He married Mrs Melinda Carpenter, Widow of William Perry Taulbee, on October 4, 1908. Melinda was born April 21, 18??and died March 6, 1925. (4) He Married Mrs Henry Black, widow of Black Henry Black, in 1926. (5) He married Melissa Brewer King.

2. Delilah F. Taulbee was born in November of 1888. She married Arch Banks on may 1, 1907.

1. Dora Taulbee was born in February, 1885. She married Julius C. Carpenter on May 11, 1909. Julias was born in 1889 and died in 1940. He is buried in th Taulbee-Lovely Cemetery.

4. Sohia Taulbee was born in May, 1898. She married Curtis Lindon in May of 1898. Curtis was born in January 29, 1895. He died October 11, 1918.

The only child of Sophia and Curtis I know of is Dovia Lindon. I have no other information other than her name. [ See Amanda Taulbee below]

5. Icy Evalee Taulbee, born August 10, 1901 and died December 24, 1944. She is buried in th Field Branch cemetery. She married Troy Bailey.

Amanda Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born in May of 1871. She married William Henry (Howard?) Taulbee, son of John William Taulbee and Eliza King. William was born in January of 1868. There is some doubt about William's middle name, if it should be Henry, Howard, or perhaps both.

Children of Amanda and William:

1. Elvin Taulbee was born on December 7, 1894. She married Rene Lykins on February 11, 1911. Rene later married Lene T. Fugate, daughter of Jeff Banks and Lula Quicksall, on Oct 8, 1963 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. Lena was born in 1902.** There are serious problems with this and following data. Rose lists Elvin as male and Rene as female and does not mention Rene's second marriage. That would mean that Jennings below would be a Taulbee and not a Lykins. We would be grateful for any claifying information.

[I received the following via email from a son of Evalee Taulbee:

Amanda Taulbee and William (Will) Taulbee only had one child, which was Elvin Taulbee. William later had a son and a daughter by Sophia Taulbee Linden, who was staying with them after her husband Curtis Linden, was killed in the war. Sophia and Curtis had a daughter named Dovie. Children of William Taulbee and Sophia Taulbee Linden were Media Taulbee and Jennings Taulbee.

Media Taulbee married Denny Davis, son of Letch Davis.They had several children, don’t know exact number. Jennings Taulbee married Anna Hollon, daughter of Bradley Hollon and Callie Blankenship.

They had four children.

Elvin Taulbee married Rene Lykins on Feb. 11, 1911, (according to the net) they had seven children, Haskell Taulbee, Luther Taulbee, Lonnie Taulbee, and Eva Taulbee, Evalee Taulbee, Madeline Taulbee. I don’t know whom Haskell and Luther and Buford married or how many children they had. Lonnie died at about fifteen years of age. Eva Taulbee married Walter Parks and they had nine children that I know of.

Evalee Taulbee (my mother) married Edgar Allen and they had seven children.

I have not listed the children due to privacy concerns.

Jennings Lykins, born in 1916, married Anna Hollon, daughter of Bradley Hollon and Sophia Lindon. Anna was born in 1916.

3. Frank Taulbee was born in 1900. He married Gracie Spencer, daughter of Mitchell Spencer and Christine Campbell, on October 3, 1923. Gracie Spencer was born in 1907. [This child is not mentioned by Rose Taulbee]

4. Eva Taulbee was born in 1912. She married Walter Parks on April 2, 1928. [Is listed by Rose Taulbee as a child of Elvin Taulbee, not Amanda Taulbee]

5. Estill Taulbee, born about 1874. [This child is not mentioned by Rose]

We will be very grateful for any clarifying information about the children and grand children of Amanda and William Taulbee.

Lou Ellen Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born in 1874. She married Edward Fugate, son of John Fugate and Rebecca (-?-). Edward was born June 30, 1870. They are not known to have had children.

Hulda Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born in 1876. She married Green Nickell (Nichol?). Green was born in May, 1886.

1. Fred Nickell, born in January, 1895.

2. Flora Nickell was born in October 1898. Married (-?-) Lovely?

Fannie Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn, was born on February 28, 1878** and died in 1900. She is buried in Arnold Cemetery. She married William Hayes on april 20, 1892. William was born in May of 1873.

Children of Fannie and William:

1. Leslie Hayes.

2. Person Hayes, born March 1897.

William L. Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Fanny Dunn**, was born on May 10, 1877 ** and died November 25, 1925. He is buried in Field Branch Cemetry. William married Martha E. White, daughter of Joseph White and (-?-) White, on May 10, 1899, in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Martha was born September, 27, 1879 and died Novemer 21, 1961.

**When Fanny Dunn Taulbee fell from her horse, she was very pregant. The shock of the fall caused her child to be born almost immediately and caused the death of Fanny very shortly after. The child, a girl was named Fannie.

1. Marion Taulbee, born 1900, died 1981 and buried in Field Branch Cemetery, Field Branch Cemetery, Brathitt County, Kentucky.

2. Susan Taulbee. Susan married William King, son of Zachariah Taylor King and Dulcenia Smith. William was born may 15, 1905.

4. John Taulbee was born March 14, 1914 at Frozen Creek and died November 26, 1982 at Morgan County Hospital. He married Golden King, daughter of Stephen S. King and Nellie Miller. They made their home in Frenchburg, Kentucky.

Floyd Taulbee, son of William Lee Taulbee and Gehazie D. Gullett , was born in January of 1884. He married Nan McPherson.

1. Clarence Taulbee was born in 1901. He married Rose Taulbee, daughter of John C. B. Taulbee and Cordelia Hughes, on July 4, 1915. This was Rose's second marriage, the first to (-?-) Banks.

2. Zilla Taulbee, born 1907.

3. Mattie L. Taulbee, born 1909.

Addie Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Gehanzie D. Gullett, was born September 13, 1891. She married Wallace Quicksall in Breathitt County, Kentucky, on June 25, 1908. Wallace was born in 1882.

Ida Belle Taulbee, daughter of William Lee Taulbee and Gehanzie D. Gullett, was born September 13, 1891 and died May 15, 1955. She married Samuel Fugate in Breathitt County, Kentucky, on May 2, 1907. Samuel was born in 1884 and died in 1937. He is buried in Arnold Cemetery.

Children of Ida and Samuel:

1. Chester A. Fugate, born 1909.

2. Robert Kelly Fugate.
