HON. EMMET E. BRANNON,
Crooksville's Popular Attorney and Typical Hustler

     leading companies, covering fire, plate
glass, tornado, and burglary insurance,
and is the representative here of the
Fidelity & Casualty Bonding Co. and
American Surety Co.
     In 1886 he married Miss Ann B.
Flannagan of Athens. He is manager
and owner of the Crooksville Opera
House, one of the best appointed in
this section, and he makes it a point
to book nothing but the cleanest and
best attractions on the road. He is
also president of the Crooksville Oil
& Gas Co., a company whose pros-
pects are particularly bright.
     No improvement in. Crooksville has
ever been made but Emmet E. Bran-
non was interested in it, and in many
of them he has been not only the pro-
moter but has handled the entire mat-
ter personally.   Bridges, pavements,
additional territory for the city, etc.,
he has directly or indirectly been the
means of obtaining, and to no one
man, probably, is Crooksville more in-
debted for its growth and improve-
ments than to him.
     In 1901 he was unanimously nom-
inated on the Republican ticket for
the office of Prosecuting Attorney of
Perry County, but his duties were such
in Crooksville that he was unable to
make the run.
     During the ten years he has resided
in Crooksville, he has proved himself
a progressive citizen who has the wel-
fare of the city at heart and a man who
is not only ready to put his shoulder
to the wheel and work for its advance-
ment, but one who is also ready to put
his hand in his pocket and help pay for
that advancement and improvement.
     Affable, energetic, quick to see and
swift to execute, he has been and is
Crooksville's biggest booster, with a
record for results not surpassed.
     Attorney Emmet E. Brannon was
born in Vinton County, Ohio, and
moved with his parents to Stockport
when very young. It was there that
he received his early education, after
which he attended the Ohio University
at Athens. He then read law in the
office of DeSteiger & Jewett, at Athens,
and was admitted to the Bar in August,
1887. In 1892 he was admitted to prac-
tice in both the Circuit and District
Courts of the United States.   He
came to Crooksville about ten years
ago and has practiced his profession
here since.
     In addition to his practice of law, E.
E. Brannon is a large dealer in real
estate, and also conducts an insurance
business representing some fourteen

     This important enterprise was or
ganized in January, 1903. and the fol-
lowing fall began the manufacture of
chinaware in its own plant, a mammoth
structure of brick, covering more than
75,000 square feet of space. Two hund
red and twenty-five people are em-
ployed the year round at good wages,
and the annual output is nearly $300,
000.00. The wares are shipped to all
parts of the United States and other
countries. The demand grows con-
tinually, and the company was obliged
only recently to enlarge the plant. The
officers are: J. L. Bennett, president;
W. H. Brown, vice president; Guy E.
Crooks, secretary and treasurer; W.
H. Tritt, superintendent. These gentle-
men are all prominent and enterprising
citizens of Crooksville, to whose en-
ergy and ability the company owes its
success.
     The wares made consist of high-
grade porcelain, semi-vitreous, deco-
rated toilet and dinner wares, and in
design or finish are not surpassed.
