THOMAS, age 16, is listed on the 1880 census with his father, John Shipley, in Hill County, Texas. On the 1900 census, he and Jeanetta are in Ellis County, Texas with 6 children. By 1910, widower Thomas is in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, with the 4 younger children. By 1920, he had remarried, and was living with wife, Luella (whom we called "Grandma Tea"), and was listed with the 2 youngest children from his first wife plus new son, Paul Vernon Shipley, and living in Tillman County, Oklahoma.

Second Generation

ADA MAE SHIPLEY born March 16, 1892, Ennis, Ellis County, Texas, married September 7, 1911, in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, EMMIT WESLEY SULLIVAN, born March 1, 1887, Houlka, Chickasaw County, Mississippi, (son of HENRY HICKMAN SULLIVAN and LAURA JANE MARTIN) died August 7, 1976, Norwalk, Los Angeles County, California, buried August 10, 1976, Pomona, Los Angeles County, California. ADA MAE died January 31, 1966, McLean, Gray County, Texas, buried February 3, 1966, in the family plot with her sons in McLean Cemetery, McLean, Texas.
EMMIT and ADA MAE were both listed on the 1900 census in the households of their fathers; Emmit in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, and Ada Mae in Ellis County, Texas. On the 1910 Census, Emmit was living with his sister, Annie Lee Parker, and her family, and Ada Mae was in the household of her father, both in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. The 1920 census has Emmit and Ada Mae and their first 4 children residing in Redmound Township, Seminole County, Oklahoma.

iii ALTON RUDOLPH SULLIVAN born February 9, 1916, Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, married 1945, LELA HENDERSON. ALTON died {....}, buried in the family plot with his mother and brothers, McLean Cemetery, McLean, Texas.

iv JAMES WOODROW SULLIVAN born November 11, 1918, Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, married 1943, HELEN GOODE. JAMES died May 5, 1945, Mindanao, Philippines. JAMES was buried in Mindanao, Philippines, and his mother had a headstone placed --with a color photograph of James in his dress Army uniform on the stone -- in the family plot in McLean Cemetery, McLean, Texas.
