Deed Book 2, page 669

This indenture made this___ day of October, One Thousand and Eight Hundred and Two between Lydia Murphy of the one party and John Murphy of the other party, both of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia.

Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the sum of one dollar to ______ hand at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth here by acknowledge have bargined sold and by these presents do bargin and sell unto the said John Murphy a tract of One Hundred Acres of land in Greenbreir County on the waters of Muddy Creek being part of a survey of 300 acres and is bounded as follow to wit:

Begining at a white oak and path and Hillside corner to ______ on Frcis Tincher and corner to ______ said survey with 43 E 142 Poles to three white oaks corner the fence by said path and ______  ______ eight Poles to two white oaks corner to Thomas Kincaid and with both N 75 W 75 Poles to Black oaks and dogwood __ 20 W 96 Poles to two Black oaks said line corner to Henry Millers __ N 40 W 70 Poles to a white oak and walnut on the opposite line and with the fence N 20 E 15 Poles to a white oak corner the fence and watershed and with the la______ N 34 E 20 Poles to a large white oak Hollow N 14 E 80 Poles up the Hollow to a Spanish Oak and white oak W 45 E 17 Poles to a Black Oak by a road and N 17 W22 Poles to a large Chestnut oak on the top of the Hill corner to the fence and with William Cherries line through the fence S 85 E 78 Poles to the Begining.

With all its appurtenances to the said John Murphy and his heirs and assigns and the said Lydia Murphy for herself and her heirs do warrant and defend the said tract of land from all and every __ Claimants unto the said John Murphy and his heirs and assigns forever Witness where of I have hereto set my hand and Seal this day and year aforesaid

This deed from Lydia Murphy to John Murphy was presented in Court and proved to be the act Deed of the said Lydia by the Oaths of William Lansaw and John Osborn who also made Oath they saw John Viney, Deceased Subscribe _____ as a witness thereto and the same is ordered to be recorded.

This indenture this Sevententh day of April , 1805 between John Murphy and his wife Nancy of the one part and Samuel Peobles and his wife, Sarah of the other part both of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia Witnesseth that and in consideration of One Dollar paid to them in hand at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the sohereby acknowledge have Bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Peoble a tract of One Hundred and Eighteen Acres of land in Greenbrier County on the Waters of Muddy Creek being a part of a survey of 300 and 20 acres and is bounded as follows:

Same land John Murphy purchased in October, 1802 from Lydia Murphy

This deed from John Murphy to Samuel Peobles was presented in Court and proved to be the act and deed of the said John Murphy by the oaths of James Claypool, Henry Castlen and Henry Miller

Deed Book 3, page 224

This indenture made this Seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight and five between William Lansaw and Elizabeth, his wife of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia of the one part and Henry Castle of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia of the other part.

Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the sum of One Dollar to the said William Lansaw in hand paid the Receipt where of he doth hereby acknowledged ______ grantee bargained and Sole unto the said Henry Castle a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Greenbrier on Muddy Creek Containing One Hundred Acres being part of a patent of 300 acres granted to Richard Humphreys and by Richard Conveyed by deed to Lydia Murphy and by her convey to the said William Lansaw by deed bearing the date, September 28, 1802 ,which is recorded in the County Court of Greenbrier the tract or parcel of Land lies adjoining the Land of John Viney, deceased, and is bounded as follows:

Begining at a walnut black oak and Elm on the patent line by the limestone run and up the same North 45 degrees East 160 Poles to a sugar tree on a hill side and South 73 East 40 Poles to two White Oaks and South 140 Poles to a large Poplar on a hillside on Viney's Line and South 80 degrees West 60 Poles to three White Oaks Corner to Viney's and the patent and Leaving Viney's thence through the patent North 46 degrees West 140 Poles

Begining with all its appurtenances to have and to hold the above mentioned tract of Land with its appurtenances to the sole use and behoof of the said Henry Castle and his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Lansaw and Elizabeth his wife for themselves and their heirs the said tract of Land the said tract of Land to the said Henry Castle and his heirs and assigns against the claim or ______ of any person or persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend.

In testimony whereof the said William Lansaw and Elizabeth his wife have unto set their hands and Seals this day and year first above written.

( 4 )  Greenbrier County, Virginia

Deed Book 4, pages 157-158-159

This indenture made the ___ day of ______ In the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight hundred and Eight Between William Hamilton of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia, Attorney in fact for William Landsaw of the County of Montgomery and State of Kentucky of the One part and Henry Castle of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia of the other part. By virtue of a Power of Attorney made by the aforesaid William Landsaw to the said William Hamilton bearing the date of the 26th day of December, 1807 and certified to have been duly acknowledged in the aforesaid County of Montgomery and State of Kentucky.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings lawful money of the United States paid by the said Henry Castle unto the said William Hamilton Attorney in fact for the aforesaid William Landsaw the recipt where of is here by acknowledged and Confessed hath granted, bargain and sold and by these presents do grant and bargain and sell a certain Tract or parcel of land lying in Greenbrier County on the waters of Muddy Creek and near the land of Richard Humphreys, John Viney and Thomas Cooper containing 95 acres and is bounded as follows:

Begining at the white Oak on a hillside South 20 degrees East 108 Pole to a walnut N 65 East 120 Pole to two sugar trees and Spanish Oak N 18' _ 140 P' to 2 chestnut Oaks on a ridge L 51 W 132 P to the Begining to have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land and with all its appurtenances to the said Henry Castle his heirs and assigns for Ever.

To the only use and behoof of him the said Castle his heirs and assigns forever and the said Hamilton for the said Landsaw the aforesaid land unto the said Castle his heirs and assigns and will forever warrant and defend by these presents against all person or persons laying any claim thereunto what soever or against any person claiming under him the aforesaid Landsaw or his heirs forever.

In Witness where of the said William Hamilton Attorney in fact for the said William Landsaw an hath set his hand and seal to these present to the day and year first above written.

At a court held for Greenbrier County the 27th day of December, 1808. This Deed from William Hamilton Attorney in fact for William Landsaw to Henry Castle was presented in Court and acknowledged by the said William Hamilton and the said is ordered to be recorded together with a Power of Attorney from the said William Landsaw to the said William Hamilton.

Montgomery County, We, two justices of the peace for the County aforesaid do certify that William Lansaw signed and acknowledged the with in Power of Attorney , December 26th, 1807.

I, Miccagah Harrison, Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do certify that Jeremiah Davis and Joseph Simpson Gentlemen before whom the within Power of Attorney appears to have been acknowledged and who the certifcate there of subscribe their names where at the time of so doing and still are Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid Duly Commissioned from and due faith and great credit is sought to be given as will in Courts of Justice as there out.

In testimoney whereof I have hereunto set my hand and officed the public Seal of office this 26th day of December, 1807 in the 16th year of the Commonwealth.
