Abner Dilley, 1814-1903

Armilda (Russell) Dilley, 1818-1900

Both are buried at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.

Abner Dilley filed for his homestead land in 1830 in Lawrence County, Ohio.  It is said that Ironton was later located on his property and he profited grandly from this situation.  Abner married Armilda Russell on 08 January 1837 in lawrence County, Ohio.  They had 7 children.  Sarilda Jane Dilley married Lorenzo D. Markin.  Although Sarilda Jane died a year before her father, Abner, she gave the plot to him in her will since Armilda had already been buried there.  Another daughter, Charity Ella Dilley Allen, left Kansas in 1900 and stayed in Ironton with her family from 1900 to 1903 when Abner died.  When he died, he had almost $10,000.00 in cash alone in his estate, most of which went to Charity Ella Dilley Allen.
