Enlisted at 24 yrs of age, states he was b. Fallsburg, Ky, (but actually
born in Pocahontas Co, W.Va - didn't come to Ky. until after his widowed
mother's remarriage in 1888 in Pocahontas Co, W.Va)

Army - July 31, 1901 -- July 30, 1904 honorably discharged as Private,
Co. "E", 8th Infantry in Fort Lawton, Washington; Nov. 4, 1906 enlisted
at Fort Logan, Colorado -- Nov. 3, 1909 honorably discharged as a
Sergeant of Company "G" of the 22nd Regiment of Infantry at Vancouver
Barrocks, Wash.

Noncommissioned Officer --- Corporal - Feb. 20,1907; Sgt.- Feb.1,1908;
1st Sgt. Apr.17,1908; Sgt. Feb. 12, 1909

Marksmanship --- 1st Class 1904; Sharpshooter June 17,1907; Apr. 23,
1908; Expert Rifleman May 25, 1909

Served in Alaska from June 26, 1908 - Aug. 28, 1909
