-1-From Margo: a translation from Dutch of a list of persons taking the oath in the town of Pisscataway (sic) 7 Sep 1673, with two versions of the lists, one numbered....the top part had John Delley, and the bottom had #39 John Dilley. -1-Per Lorrie Crompton and David Dille: Jonathan Hamal ( as far as I know there was only one with Hamel as the middle name- but there always could be another) was born September 30, 1684, son of John b 1645 & Sarah...brother to John Dilley b 1681 -

-1-Per Ruth: Until more data is found, I am still placing Richard as one of the Hunterdon County Dilleys or even possibly as another son of Jonathan 1684. He is far more likely to be the son of Jonathan 1714 or Aaron 1721. Note the naming patterns. No Ichabod is found is his line or in the line of our bunch. However," Ichabod" is found in the Dille/Dilley descendants of the Mendham Dille group. The name Richard is found in both lines of Hunterdon Co. Dilleys. The only reason that Richard was attributed to Ichabod so far as I can see is that Jesse Brooks Dille and William Wallace Dille knew that Ichabod was the other brother of their ancestor and knew that Richard was not in their branch. JBD and WWD did not have the Woodbridge records or they may have come to a different conclusion. I stand firm on this until someone comes up with more evidence.

-2-Per Ruth: Just a thought. There was a William Dilley who registered ear marks in Woodbridge about 1758. There is a William Dilee on the Knowlton Twp. Sussex Co. N.J. taxpayers list 1774 . That was the time that Richard Dilley was there. There is also an Adam Dilee and John Dilee there at the same time. I had thought that the Dilee name was really a Dilse who got misspelled but I am not sure now. By 1789 and 1790 there is a William Dilley in Alexandria Twp. Hunterdon Co. near that Jonathan Dilley. I have all these people grouped under Jonathan Dilley b.1714 son of Jonathan 1684. That William is listed in the 1820 estate record for that Jonathan Dilley. Now I am doing this more by process of elimination than anything and I have been wrong before but I think this one bears more investigation. Unfortunately, the records don't tell us a lot. I did copy the film for that Dilee and it really does look like two e's.
