DESCENDANTS OF HIRAM WORTHINGTON DILLE SON DAVID JR.
by Jay D. Andrews

The Dille Book has one line on Hiram W. Dille as follows:

''Hiram Worthington Dille, b. 16 Jun 1814 d 1863 m 1833 Alvina Robbison."

I read the 1850 census for Iroquois C.o. , IL as follows:

Dille, Abram W. 34 m Farmer $200 OH
Alvina 32 f KY
Harriet E. 11 f IL
Gelphi A. 3 f IL
Mary A. 5 f IL
John H. 3 m IL
Charles C. b. 1850 IL (added)

Win O'Hara received the following data from Col. John H. Dilley in Germany:

Notes: Hiram W. Dille was a son of David Dille Jr. of Cuyahoga Co., OH in the NE corner of the state. He was one of the youngest sons of David Jr., and he moved to Kankakee Co., IL, probably following his older brother Samuel Wade Dille who moved there about l838. The critical facts that link this family to David Dille Jr. are the site of Momence, the name Alvina for Hiram's wife, and his appearance in the 1850 census for Iroquois Co. IL with a son age 3 years named John Henry Dille. The minor variation in the cencus age is understandable. The delay from 1833 to 1839 in birth of the first child is unusual but possible. There are enough clues of dates and sites to pursue this branch of David's clan in census records and other sources. The ''good'' Colonel, as Win calls him, provided a good record of his clan and his ancestry. It appears that the John H. Dille in the 1850 census was the John Henry Dille b. 2 Nov 1848 at Momence, IL.
