From the History of Hardin Co., OH, Hale Township--
J.M. Dille, deceased, was born in Richland Co., OH, September
12, 1827. His parents, Abraham and Debra Dille, were natives of
Pennsylvania, where they were married, then moving to Ohio. Mrs.
Dille died near Mount Victory, OH, and Mr. Dille afterward married
Mrs. Jones, nee Garwood, and the two are now living in Mount Victory.
Abraham Dille is one of the old pioneers and settlers of Hardin
County. The subject of this sketch was a carpenter by trade.
He first bought fifty acres of land, which he subsequently sold,
purchasing the 135 acres of the farm where the widow and family
reside. He also owned, with his son Lafayette, a half-interest
in a tract of fifty acres. The land is all improved, and under
a high state of cultivation. Mr. Dille was married, December 17,
1851, to Nancy A., daughter of James and Mary A. Smith, both
deceased. She was born in Logan County, OH, July 31, 1833. Her
parents moved to Hardin County November 29, 1843, settling near
Mount Victory. To Mr. and Mrs. Dille have been born ten children,
nine of whom are living, viz.,(1) Lafayette W., married November
5, 1874 to
Hattie E. Jones, the latter born November 3, 1854, and died February
8, 1878, the mother of one child--Jennie B.; (2)Clara J., at home;
(3)Oakland W., married December 14, 1882, to Florence Butler;
(4) Mary E., wife of William Eddy; (5)J.C. Reemont, (6) Henry
M., (7) James M., (8) Frank M. and (9)Edith M. The deceased,
Alberetti, was born in 1860 and died October 21,
1862. Mrs. Dille is a member of the Methodist Church. By the
decease of Mr. Dille, Hale Township lost a good citizen, and the
family a kind husband and a loving parent.
