Note: Jonathan Dilley and Deriel Dilley were listed next to each other. James Dilley and Jesse Dilley were listed next to each other. This is the only time Deriel/Deriah J. Dilley appeared on the Hanover tax rolls. It is assumed he moved to Wilkes Barre township when he married Almira Jameson in 1822, which is where her parents lived. Deriah and Almira had one son while still in Pennsylvania, Fisher Stuart Dilley who was born in 1823. Prior to 1825 they had moved on to Ohio, appearing on the 1830 Delaware County, OH census. Second child Sarah Ann Dilley was born in 1825 in Ohio.

Estate of Richard Dilly, deceased.

Petition for Partition.

The petition of Daton Dilly was read setting forth that Richard Dilly late of Hanover township died intestate leaving issue seven children, to wit Sally who married with Jno Dolph, now dec'd., Ann who married with Cole Puichie (?), Susan, James, Jesse, Jerusha, Daton your petitioner. That the said Richard Dilly dec'd was at the time of his decease ______ in his ______ as of fee of a certain tract of land in the said township of Hanover, Containing about 180 acres more or less adjoining lands of Darrell Miller, the heirs of Jacob Cist, James Dilley, Jacot Fisher and the heirs of Jesse Edgerton, therefore praying the Court to award this inquest to make partition of the premises aforesaid, to and _________ the representatives of the said intestate in such manner and the said porportions as by the laws of this __________ is directed, if such partition can be made without prejudice to or spoiling of this ________ but if such partition could be made thereof, then to value and appraise the same and make a return of their proceedings according to law. Now, to wit, at special adjourned Court April 26, 1839, writ of Partition awarded and now to to wit May 11, 1839 writ of partition issued (not executed) for reasons we _______ __________ _________.

Joel B. Burrit and Ruth his wife, Jonathan Dilley and Polly his wife to Stephen Burritt. This indenture made the twelfth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Between Joel B. Burrett of Chesnothill township, Northampton county and Ruth his wife, Jonathan Dilley of Hanover Township, Luzerne County and Polly his wife of the one part and Stephen Burritt of Hanover township aforesaid county of Luzerne and all of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania of the other part. Whereas Stephen Burritt late of Hanover township aforesaid deceased and father of Joel B. Burritt, Polly Dilley wife of Jonathan Dilley and Stephen Burritt the grantee in this indenture mentioned. Received a patent from the Commonwealth of PA among other lands, for the following described tract of land which land the contained in the patent to the said Stephen Burrett deceased was the property of Stephen Burritt the grantee in this indenture named agreeable therefor to the intention and understanding of the Parties at the time tho no deed of Conveyance was made by the said Stephen Burrett deceased in his life time to Stephen Burritt the grantee in this indenture mentioned for the purpose thereof of doing justice to the said Stephen Burritt last mentioned and without affecting in any manner the portion of share of the said Stephen Burritt, the grantee in this indenture mentioned of and into the Estate of the said Stephen Burritt deceased his late father. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Joel B. Burritt and Ruth his wife, Jonathan Dilley and Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifty cents to each of them in hand paid by the said Stephen Burritt at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof they do hereby acknowldedge and thereof acquit and forever discharge the said Stephen Burritt his heirs...... All that the following described tract of land situat in the township of Hanover one of the Seventeen townships in the county of Luzerne and Commonwealth of PA, being part of lot number eight in the second Division of said Township........containing twelve acres of land be the same more or less........

Jonathan Dilley and wife to Thomas Siveter. This indenture made the fourth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three between Jonathan Dilley and Polly his wife of the township of Hanover of the first part and Thomas Siveter late of England but now of same town above. Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Dilley and Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars money of the Untied States to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Siveter........a certain tract of land being part of lots No's 11 and 28 in the first division situate in Hanover.......containing sixty three acres, sixty five perches......(which said tract of land the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by Patent dated the fourteenth day of November AD one thousand eight hundred and twelve granted to John Craver/Grover, the said John Craver and Christiana his wife by deed dated the twenty sixth day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixteen granted to the said Jonathan Dilley and wife). Witnessed by Jesse Fell and Fanny Lewis. Signed and Sealed by Jonathan Dilley, Polly Dilley. Recorded 26th November 1823.

(1835) George Dilley and wife, et al to Jacob Fisher. To all for whom these presents shall come, greetings. Know ye that we Matthias Dilley and Margaret his wife of Meadville, Crawford county, and George Dilley and Catharine his wife of Venango County and all of the state of Pennsylvania of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to us in hand paid by Jacob Fisher of Hanover, Luzerne county, and state aforesaid...........land situate in township of Hanover.......and the said parties of the first part by these presents to further recieve, release and forever quit claim all right..........In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals this twenty second day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. Signed Geroge Dilley, Catharine Dilley, Matthias Dilley, Margaret Dilley.

Received September 12th AD 1845 of Jacob Fisher fifty dollars in full of the consideration. Attest Harrison Wright. Signed Matthias Dilley.

(1837) William Brown, et al, to Jacob Fisher. To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know ye that William Brown and Amanda Brown his wife, late Dilley, of the township of Hanover, Peter B. Roushey and Lovina his wife, late Dilley of the township of Plymouth, Joshua Williams and Abigail his wife, late Dilley of Wilkes Barre, and Ellen Dilley and Alexander Dilley of the latter place, and all of Luzerne Co. and State of PA, of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of eighty dollars, to us in hand paid by Jacob Fisher, of the township of Hanover, aforesaid, the receipt and payment where of we do hereby acknowledge, have remised, released and forever quit claim for us and our heirs unto the said Jacob Fisher and to his heirs and assigns forever, all the estate, right, title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of us the said party of the first part, of in or to that certain piece or parcel of land situate in the township of Hanover afresaid, bounded as follows: Beginning at a corner of a line in the first division of Lots in Hanover township, thens north fifty one..............In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals, this eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven. This indenture made the fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred forty five between John Dilley and Mary his wife of the county of Washington and state of Indiana and Vernet Tracy and Mary Ann his wife of the county of Territory of Iowa of the first part and Jacob Fisher of Hanover, Luzerne county and state of Pennsylvania of the other part....sum of fifty dollars to them well and truly paid....land situate in Hanover....degrees east forty nine perches a corner, thense north fifty three degrees.......and now is the occupancy of the said Jacob Fisher. Together also with all and singular the buildings.......In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangebly set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in the presence of us by Vernet Tracy and Mary Ann Tracy, I. Borier, I. Williams, Mary ___will, R. B. Furgeson as to the signing of John Dilley and Mary Dilley. Signed and sealed by John Dilley, Mary Dilley, Vernet Tracy, Mary Ann Tracy.

State of Indiana, Washington County , Personally appeared before me one of the Associate Judges of the Washington circuit court in the seasonal Judicial circuit of said State, John Dilley and Mary his wife and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the within deed to be their act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned. And the said Mary Dilley being of full age and by one........ dated 5th June 1845. Signed by Hugh McPhaters.

Iowa Territory, Muscatine County, be it known that on the sixth of July A.D. eighteen hundred and forty five, personally appeared before me subscriber associate Judge of the Supreme Court and district Judge of the district court of said county in said territory, Vernet Tracy and Mary Ann his wife acknowledged the within deed to be their act and deed for the purpose therein .........Signed by I. This Indenture made the fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundrfed and forty five between Matthias Dilley and Margaretta his wife, of Crawford County and George Dilley and Catherine his wife of the township of Scrubgrass and county of Venango, State of Pennsylvania of the first part, and Jacob Fisher of Hanover, Luzerne county and the state aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to them well and truly paid by the said Jacob Fisher.........parcel of land situate in Hanover, Luzerne county......containing 27 acres and 7 perches....In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in the presence of us, William Christy, Jesse Phipps, as to the signing of George Dilley and Catherine his wife, William McLaughlin, Charles McHenry as to the signing of Matthias Dilley and Margeretta his wife. Crawford County SS, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said county of Crawford this 25th day of Sept. 1845, Matthias Dilley and Margaretta his wife..........signed by Wm. McLaughlin, Justice of the Peace.

Venango County, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said county of Venango this day George Dilley and Catharine his wife who swears...........Signed by William Christy, J.Peace, Recorded 3 Oct. 1845.
