QUESTIONABLE #2: Appears to be same Stephen, different parents, both marrying Phebe Condit.
SOURCE #1 - Stephen DILLEY, age 20-30
(b. 1810-1820) 1840 in Mercer county, Pennsylvania. Son of Stephen Dilley & wife Rachel Logan. He was
born January 18, 1810, and died August 06, 1891 in Morton Co.,
KS. He married PHEBE CONDIT April 12, 1831. She was born November
15, 1810, and died December 08, 1872 in Roseville, IL.
Children of STEPHEN DILLEY and PHEBE CONDIT are:
i. CLARISSA8 DILLEY, b. April 06, 1833, Mercer Co., PA; d. Aft.
1916, Canton, IL; m. GIDEON W. COLE, October 06, 1850; b. March

Submitted by Listmember Bob.
SOURCE #2 - Stephen DILLEY, b. 1813 in PA. 1850 in Warren county, IL. Son of John Nahum Dilley. Information on this Stephen was submitted by Judy Dilley Mooers as follows:
-According to Jay D. Andrews' book "Genealogy
of Price and Grandson William
Dilley at Living Sites", the Stephen Dilley in the Warren
Co., IL 1850
census was the son of Price Dilley's middle son, John Nahum. John
Nahum
Dilley was born in Pennsylvania in 1787 and died April 5, 1813.
Jay D.
Andrews said, "Price's middle son, John Nahum, died in 1813,
possibly from
service in the War of 1812. He left a son Stephen and two very
young
daughters who were all treated as orphans requiring guardians
then.
Although Stephen was named in the will, he was forgotten by relatives
who could
not identify Stephen's relationship to other Dilleys."
Stephen Dilley married Phebe Condit and had
two daughters, Phylina and
Clarissa. His family apparently moved west with his cousins, including
the
William and John Dilley that are located near him in the 1850
census.
William (born 1811) and John (born 1814) were both sons of Lewis
Dilley.
This William was the father of William Newell Dilley (born 1849,
and
therefore, the one-year old listed in 1850 in the household of
William
Dilley). Both William and Stephen died in Kansas, so the families
apparently migrated together a second time. William's family moved
from
Pennsylvania to Illinois in 1841 and from Illinois to Kansas in
1883.
My information on this part of the family is
based on the writings of Jay D.
Andrews and notes on family history made by Russell Avery Dilley
(my
great-grandfather and the oldest son of William Newell Dilley).
Russell's
notes indicate persons who were known to him. Stephen's family
members were
all known to Russell Dilley, so the family of this cousin of his
grandfather's apparently remained in close contact with the descendents
of
Lewis Dilley.
Phylina Dilley married John Gordon in 1861.
John Gordon's mother was Sarah
Dilley, daughter of Lewis and Mary (Cooper) Dilley and sister
of William and
John Dilley, so the family ties were further strengthened through
marriage.

gr.grandson of Lewis and Sarah (Saunders) Dille. Stephen was born

KNOWN Stephen DILLE, b. 1825 in OH. 1850 in Porter county, Indiana.
Sumbitted by David Dille: The Dille book 300 years of Dille's in America has him as follows; Son of John DILLE b abt 1780 and Nancy Gallagher, Grandson of Aaron DILLE b 1742 and Mary Fletcher and Great grandson of David Dille b 1718 and Elizabeth Wade. I think you may have gotten the lines crossed between David DILLE Sr b 1718 and Ichabod DILLEY b 1722/24. who were both sons of John DILLE Jr b 1681. The spelling of and adding a Y to the last name of this branch of the clan was supposedly cause by Ichabod. Probably done to distinguish different branches of John's sons. A problem that is ongoing is that those persons who are known as DILLEY have listed DILLE persons with a "Y" from force of habit when listing them on Genealogy records.
Submitted by Listmember Bob:

KNOWN Stephen B. DILLEY, b. 1840 in PA Son of Matthias Dilley & wife Margarite, Matthias son of Jonathan Dilley of Luzerne county, PA. Submitted by Listmember Douglas.
-Per DAR records online Stephen B. DILLEY (b. 1840, died 1898) married Charlotte M. FREEMAN (b. 1845, d. 1902) This would be Stephen B. Dilley, son of Mathias Dilley, who was son of Jonathan Dilley of Luzerne Co., PA. (Douglas Dalton's lineage) This Stephen and Charlotte had a daughter named Alberta C. Dilley that married Francis James Lewis. Alberta was born in Lake City, Minnesota. I assume the following is this same Stephen B. Dilley:
-Civil War:
Stephen B. Dilley, Company I, 1st Minnesota Infantry, Sergeant,
born in PA, discharged for disability. Enlisted 29 April 1861
at age 22, Union, discharged 05 March 1863.
-Civil War Pension index:
Stephen B. Dilley, filed in Minnesota, widow ELIZA DILLEY (what
happened to Charlotte, or do we have TWO Stephen B. Dilleys in
Minnesota?? or a divorce? Eliza filed 1898, which matches the
above Stephen's death year on DAR)
