Below is Willis Wilford Fowler (son of Willam Fowler and Martha Ann Dilley). He was my grandmother, Jennie Josephine Fowler Belton's father, and he was a teacher. He also wrote a book of poetry which I have and will try to send you some of the poems. The book is very old and I don't like to handle it very much, but I have tried to type some of the poems from his book to share. There is much in his poetry about his FAMILY and his HOME in Indiana. There is also some reference to Wm. Jessie McInturf, particularly about his having been a 'traitor' to the Union. I believe Jessie McInturf fought for the Confederacy and it was a thing of shame to the whole family, and broke his mother, Elizabeth McInturf's heart. Elizabeth McInturf was Arthur Dilley's wife.

I wrote my grandmother and asked for some information on her family and came across this letter that she wrote me in the 70's.
Letter written early 1970 from Grandma Jennie Belton to Bonnie Belton Bryant:
About Fowler's:
Willis Wilfred Fowler
Mabel Montana Seaman Fowler
Jennie Josephine Fowler
Willis Ward Fowler
Maurice Seaman Fowler died at age 17 months
Cecil Wade Fowler
Marjorie Dale Fowler
Mildred Fowler - died at 2-1/2 years - She was 5 years older than Marj was next
Dad had 7 brothers and sisters.
Uncle Sylvia Fowler who died a couple years ago.
Uncle Lincoln Fowler who died at age 99. He had 9 children.
Aunt Emma had 5 children.
Aunt Alice had 4 children.
Aunt Dollie - had 2 children, Daisy and Fred.
Uncle Frank - 4 children, Flossie one of children
Dad next to youngest. Aunt Daisy died at age 20. Cancer. She was the youngest. Beautiful and engaged. It was quite a jolt. It happened after I was born.
Dad was genius of the family. All the family things or thought. He graduated grade school age 11. He wrote poetry. Could answer any question correctly about history, foreign affairs, politics. He went to teachers college in Ind. walked miles to school. Carried shoes to save them. Put on when near college. I am sure he would have made a big success if children hadn't come so fast. And also Mom sorta didn't cooperate she was 17 when I was born, and didn't like country.
First four children born before civil war then grandfather gone 4 years in civil war, then the second 4 - they were true pioneers. Original from Kansas, near Emporia. There are still a flock of Fowlers there. All very wealthy (farmers, but really wealthy)
16 children of my great grandfathers family, 15 boys and 1 girl - each received 200 acres of land at marriage., but 2 went to Indiana, so that's how come I was born there I guess & poor. We use to have a printed book with history of that generation but I have no idea who has it.
They came to Indiana when they called Panic was on. But they had a living but didn't expand like their brothers did.
