I have a question an am not sure where to direct
this...its more of an observation.
My 3rd generation Grandmother was Jane Rebecca Dilley, daughter
of Lewis and Jane Elliott Dilley.
In the Book by Jay Andrews titled Genealogy of Price Dilley clan
of Mercer County PA, there is an error on Jane R. info, she is
buried with her husband Christopher in Seceder Cemetery, in Beaver
County PA, per there respective death certificates. She died in
Stoneboro, PA on May 13, 1919
He died Feb 26, 1923. I have the line from them forward if anyone
wants it. I also have a picture of her in a rocking chair, its
not real legible I may be able to get the local camera store to
work on it. Any way let me know if you know how I may contact
Jay Andrews or feel free to forward my letter to him
Thank you
I enjoyed the info on your web site.

Teddy - I am very interested in obtaining a
copy of the above mentioned
book. Do you have an extra copy? or do you know how I can get
one? My
great-great grandfather was Aurora Dille. In the information
on the web, it
lists him as female. His daughter, Belle, is my great grandmother.
Any
information that you have on their lines would be appreciated,
and I in turn
will share what information I have with you. Best wishes.

I reviewed the info you have on roots web etc.
in particular the data on Clarissa & Silas Dickerson. Do you
have any background data on Silas? I have a Silas that I am searching
for. He was born 12/5/1812 in Washington county, Ohio. After 1829
he moved with his family to Lafayette and Tippecanoe counties,
Indiana. In 1836 he moved with his widowed mother, one living
sister and eight brothers to Muscatine, Iowa. His mother died
in 1839. He was the 2nd oldest (living) of his family and still
in Iowa in 1840 to the best of my information. From that point
he disappears. I have seen multiple references to having possibly
moved to Illinois but nothing proven. His sister, Nancy, married
in 1840 and walked the Oregon Trail in 1844-1845. Brother Jesse
farmed in Iowa until his death in 1871. Brother's: Vachel, Thomas,
Frederick and Luther all travelled south living in Missouri, Kansas,
Oklahoma and Texas. Brothers: Peter (oldest), Whitten and Xenophon
(youngest-born 1828) also vanish after 1840. Brother Luther served
in the Civil War from Kansas. My Silas is the son of Joseph Dickerson
and Sally (Sarah) Dailey. His grandfather Thomas served in the
Revolution and his father in the War of 1812. I am hoping you
might have some bit of info on your Silas to identify him as mine
or prove that he is not so I can move on. I have seen references
to a Silas who died in Missouri in 1839 but I believe he was still
alive then. There are several Sila's that served in the Civil
War but all are too young to be mine. There are further references
to a Silas in Illinois who married a Marietta Blew and one who
married an Elizabeth Pike. His brother Jesse was my great grandfather.
There is still another reference to a Silas from Jasper county,
Illinois living in Texas in 1887 and farming. Only two brothers
were still alive in 1894 (Luther who died in 1910 and ???). I
have dates of death for Jesse, Vachel, Thomas, Frederick and Luther
so the one living in 1894 had to be Silas, Peter, Whitten or Xenophon.
Sister Nancy wrote of her visit to the
Chicago exposition in 1894 and how she visited her last two living
brothers but she did not name them. I will gladly share any info
I have on the Dickerson lines that might help you. THANKS - Bill
