The Fourth National Stidham* Family Reunion
July 11-14, 2002, in Fort Wayne, Indiana
PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES
Our reunion host this year is the Hilton Fort Wayne Convention Center located downtown and connected to the Grand Wayne Center, the site of this year's Saturday evening banquet. The address is 1020 S. Calhoun Street. To make your reservation, call 260-420-1100. The deadline for making your reservation and receiving our group rate discount of $74 per night/room (plus tax) is June 11, one month prior to the start of our reunion.
Thursday, July 11
4:00 pm to 10:00 pm: Registration in the lobby of the Hilton Fort Wayne.
4:00 pm to 11:00 pm: Hospitality room available in the Presidential Suite (9th floor).
Those who can make it early can check in at the hotel after 12:00 noon, and then register for the reunion beginning at 4:00 pm in the lobby. When you complete the registration process, youll be given a printed program of the weekends activities and a commemorative reunion T-shirt for each of the family members youve registered. You're then invited to join those already there in the hospitality suite on the 9th floor for greetings and conversation. Those living in the area or staying at different locations can register for the weekends events on Friday morning the 12th, before 9:00 am. Be sure to have finished your breakfast (on your own) by then. Note, all breakfasts each morning are on your own and not part of the official reunion program. The hotel has several good restaurants there, or you may prefer other eating establishments nearby.
Friday, July 12
7:00 am to 9:00 am: Breakfast on your own.
7:30 am to 9:00 am: Registration outside of the Hamilton Room on the 2nd floor.
9:00 am to 12 noon: The Timen Stiddem Society's annual membership meeting (all are welcome, membership in the society isn't necessary). Welcome by TSS President, Ules "Butch" Stidam, Jr., and remarks from some of the other officers of the society. Our guest speaker for the morning program is Curt Witcher, manager of Historical Genealogy Department at the Allen County Public Library and current president of the National Genealogical Society.
12 noon to 2:00 pm: Lunch on your own.
2:00 pm to 6:00 pm: Research at the Allen County Public Library.
If research isn't your thing, try the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory one block away from the Hilton Hotel (Adults $3, Children $2).
Another option is the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, a four-mile drive north, located at 3411 Sherman Blvd. (Adults $5.50, Children $4).
If flowers or animals don't do it for you, how about Science Central for hands-on family fun in interactive science, mathmatics, and technology, six blocks away from the Hilton Hotel (Adults $5.50, Children $4.50).
6:00 pm to as late as you like: Dinner on your own (hook up with reunited family or newly-found family and friends). Afterwords, return to the hotel for visiting with other reunion attendees.
Saturday, July 13
7:00 am to 9:30 am: Breakfast on your own.
9:45 am: Meet in hotel lobby to leave as a group for the Lincoln Museum, just two blocks away by foot (don't forget your tour tickets which were included in your reunion registration packet).
10:00 am to 12 noon: Tour the Lincoln Museum.
12 noon: to 1:00 pm: Lunch across the street from the Lincoln Museum on the picnic tables next to the Old City Hall Historical Museum
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Tour the Old City Hall Historical Museum. Housed in the former city hall and jail, the museum provides three floors of Fort Wayne and Allen County history (don't forget your tour tickets which were included in your reunion registration packet).
4:00 pm to 6:30 pm: Walk back to the Hilton Hotel to rest and prepare for the evening's banquet.
6:30 to 7:00 pm: Meet on the second floor of the hotel, outside of the Grand Wayne Center for individual pictures and entrance to banquet (don't forget you meal tickets which were included in your reunion registration packet).
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm: Banquet buffet, followed by the always-popular and entertaining reunion auction held by Jack Stidham, TSS Historian and author of the book, The Descendants of Dr. Timoth Stidham, Vol. 1 (please bring a new or used item to donate to the auction to help defray some of the extra reunion expenses born by the society).
Sunday, July 14
After breakfast (on your own), well say our goodbyes until next year. Dont miss it.
