Born in Cecil county, Maryland; educated in the public schools of Lawrenceville, N. J., and at Cornell University. Since coming to West Virginia, Mr. Whitaker has been largely identified with the steel manufacturing business and has met with marked success. He is also prominently connected with other business enterprises. He was elected as one of the members of the House of Delegates from Ohio county in 1916; during the 1917 sessions had the following committee assignments: Taxation and Finance, Railroads, Forestry and Conser- vation.
