Biography

Captain Drew Cukor was born on 11 February 1968 in Torrance, California . He attended the University of Southern California as an NROTC, Marine Option scholarship student. After completing his freshman year, Captain Cukor served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint for 28 months in Central America. Thereafter, he returned to USC where he graduated with a BA in Spanish in 1992 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.

After completion of the Basic School, Captain Cukor was assigned the intelligence MOS (0202), MAGTF Intelligence Officer. He attended the Officers Basic Intelligence Course and was assigned to the 7th Marine Regiment. His first assignment was as an Intelligence Officer for the Regiment where he deployed to Somalia and participated in the closing months of Operation Restore Hope. Upon returning, he was reassigned as the Intelligence Officer/Surveillance Target Acquisition platoon commander for the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment where he served for three years participating in numerous CAX’s and deployments to Okinawa, Korea, Kuwait, the Philippines and Panama.

In 1996 Captain Cukor was selected for the Special Education Program and attended the Naval Postgraduate School for 22 months where he studied statistics and economics. He graduated with an MS in Systems Analysis and was subsequently assigned to the Program Analysis and Evaluation Directorate, Marine Corps Systems Command as the senior operations research/economic analyst for USMC C4I programs.

Captain Cukor’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Additional awards include the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Medal. He is assigned the additional MOS’s of Foreign Area Officer Latin America (9941), Systems Analyst (9652) and Acquisition Officer (9957).

Captain Cukor is married to the former Kirsten Warnick and has two children, Hannah Marian and Gunnar Erik.
