After graduation, he was commissioned an ENSIGN in the Surface Warfare community and served his SWO tour as First Lieutenant aboard the USS ANTIETAM (CG-54) out of San Diego, California. Upon return from a deployment to the Persian Gulf, LTJG Cerezo attained a "Line To Staff" transfer and became part of the Civil Engineer Corps.
