Two pages from Family Bible of John and Rebecca (Campbell) Forean
of Rockbridge County, Virginia, submitted by Rebecca
in order to receive a Widow's Pension in 1839.  The following is the
printed text from the Bible:

Leaf marked No. 1:
"THE NEW TESTAMENT Of our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST,  Newly
tranflated out of the ORIGINAL GREEK, And with the [illegible]
TRANSLATIONS Diligently Compared and Revifed, By His MAJESTY'S
fpecial Command.
Appointed to be Read in Churches.  EDINBURGH: Printed by ALEXANDER
KINCAID, His Majefty's Printer.  MDCCLXXI."


Leaf marked No. 2:
"PSALMS of DAVID In METRE: Newly Tranflated, diligently Compared
with original TEXT, and former Tranflations.  More plain, fmooth,
and agreeable to the TEXT, than any heretofore.  Allowed by the
Authority of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY of the KIRK of SCOTLAND, and
appointed to be fung in Congregations and Families.

"John forean and Rebeckah Campbell was Joined to Gether in marriage
by (S. Lus---) minaster in September the 29th 1785.

God give them health to Live and Prosper Well there undertaking
And keep them from All Wickedness and Sin.

Affidavit of Sarah Forean Woods - 1837

Rockbridge County State of Virginia To-Wit:

    This day personally appeared before the undersigned Sarah Woods of
said county who produced to the undersigned the Family Bible of John
Forean or Forehand, dec'd out of which the undersigned has cut with
his own hands the two leaves herewith enclosed marked 1 & 2.  The
affiant made oath that she was the second child of John & Rebecca
Forean and that her birth is registered on No. 2 as having occurred
on the 31st of July, 1788:  That she was married in the year 1806 to
her cousin John Forean (or Forehand) and that the Addison and Rebecca
Forean whose births are registered on the printed side of No. 1 are
her children:  that the children whose births are registered on No.
2 were all the children of John & Rebecca Forean born in lawful wedlock:
that her father the said John Forean, dec'd, was never married but once
and that his widow Rebecca mother of the affiant is still living and
unmaried:  That her first husband (the affiant's) is dead and that she
is now the wife of Zachariah Woods:  and that the Bible out of which
the enclosed leaves have been cut was given to her by her father John
Forean, dec'd, when she was married to her first husband and that she
has retained possession of it without interruption from that time to
the present.  Sworn before me a Justice of the peace for the County
of Rockbridge this 26th day of August 1837.
