Subject: Bob

Query: Hi. I am so glad I found your website. It filled in some blanks. My great Aunt was Clara Swan (b 1835) who married John Wensinger. Their daughter, Ella, married James O'Gorman. Upon his death, she was remarried to John Francis Broderick. Your website lists the Wensinger and Broderick trees and shows that Mary Virginia Broderick married Benno B Bouman, and that they had a female child, name witheld. I am trying desperately to get in touch with a surviving O'Gorman or Broderick descendant. I want to know what happened to my great aunt Clara's sister, Matilda Swan. I thought that one of the surviving descendants might point me in the right direction. If you could put me in touch with surviving descendants, I would greatly appreciate it. I will not violate privacy. Bless you for your good work.

Subject: William Burke Walsh, b. 1784 m. 1811 Co. Cork
Surnames: WALSH, McDONNELL, HILL, JOYCE, O'BRIEN
Query: I'm looking for more information about William Burke Walsh who was born 1 July 1784. He married Rebecca McDonnell in 1811 at Christ Church, Blackrock, Co. Cork, IRL. The transcribed record on Ancestry shows the name as WELSH. His daughter Anne Walsh(e) is my 3rd great grandmother (she was born 16 Nov 1816). She married John E. Hill in Co. Cork, IRL in 1845. I have seen a few researchers speak of a Bible and McDonnell family history that Anne Walshe Hill wrote, but I have yet to see any proof of such a thing. John and Anne Walshe Hill had a son named John Edmund Hill in 1856 who came to America in 1884. He married in Campbell Co., Kentucky, had 5 children, and died in St. Louis, Missouri in 1916. Anne Walsh Hill had 2 sisters that I'm aware of, one was Eliza who married Thomas Joyce. Their children went to Co. Armagh, IRL, and Ottawa, Canada. Rebecca was Anne's other sister who married George O'Brien. Some of their children went to Co. Antrim, Belfast, IRL and Kendal, Westmorland, ENG.

Query: Hello my name is Linda Symons. With very vague details i am hoping to trace a woman called Josephine Walsh this is her maiden name i believe she was born in 1958. I also beleive she was born with reddish hair?? Her mum lived in a small cottage in a very small village and re-married in her lifetime and so Josephine Walsh ended up with a step dad and also 3 step brothers and sisters, apparently 2 step brothers and one step sister. Josephine worked as a waitress in the Uk in 1974 or 1975. She then fell pregnant with me her adopted daughter,i am only trying this avenue as i have hit a road block and if she doesn't want to meet me this is ok but there might be other family members who would like to meet me and i would be over joyed with this ,also some details on my father would be fantastic as i have nothing on him. Josephine went to Bessboro adoption agency in the Sacred Heart Convent in Cork Ireland in late 1975,she then had me on the 9th of April 1976 and named me Jennifer Jude Walsh. I believe she then went back to the Uk perhaps London, that's what i was told and she later married in 1977/1978 and had a son around this time also with her husband, she may have had more children. I believe she in later years returned back to Ireland,TO Co. Offaly. Her mother is deceased a good few years now and somehow i was given an address which may be linked to Josephine in Cloneygowan,Tullamore?? Hoping someone might know her. Thanking You, Linda Symons.x

She was sent to Canada in 1902-03 and was a tiny baby at that time. She was born in 24 July 1902 in Sheffield, England. Her Mother's name was Ann Elizabeth Walsh ( nee Daughtry ) and her Father's name was George Walsh. Her Father was Irish, her Mother English. I dont know if she was adopted to someone there, or if she was sent to live in Canada with relatives, probably immigrants from Ireland ( WALSH ) I know that my Father had an address to write to but he was in the army at that time and the address was misplaced. That would have been in the latter part of 1940's. He seems to remember Ontario came into things but not absolutely sure on that. I REALLY hope you can assist me in finding her family, as my Father's been trying all his life and it would mean so much to all the family. Thank you so very much Patricia Gillespie ( nee WALSH )

Query: Looking for relatives of William (b: circa 1869) and Agnes (Bullister) Walsh and their seven children: Margaret, John, Coleman, Adeline, William, Agnes and Stephen. William was a member of the Pittsburgh Police Department who died on or about October 21, 1909. He disappeared for about two (2) weeks after telling his family that he was going out for a walk. He was found dead, on November 5th, 1909 near the Wabash Rail Road Bridge / Point Bridge. His sister was my great-grandmother, and she married a Burns...they had my grandmother Catherine Mary (Burns) Riley. In 1951 she wrote a letter describing what happened to her uncle William Walsh which I have been investigating this past couple of weeks. William was a hero....not just to her, but he had recently rescued several people from a Livery Stable fire just before his death. PLEASE contact me if you are related to William and Agnes?

Query: I'm searching for my grandfathers family. The information I have is vague but who knows what I might find. As the story goes My great grandparents migrated from Ireland in the mid to late 1800's. They lived in the Seattle Washington area of the United States. They had 6-8 children. My grandfather Jack Walsh was one of the youngest children. It is unclear weather one or both of my great-grandparents died, I've heard just my great-grand mother died leaving my great-grandfather unable to take care of 8 kids and I've also heard that they both died; but either way after the death, the children were all sent to an orphanage. The oldest boys and girls were sent to live on farms and ranches. My grandfather however was "to young to be of any help." He grew up in the orphanage and became somewhat of a pain. He was always running away and by the time he was old enough to be of help no one wanted him. The last time he ran away was when he was between 12 and 14. He crossed the border into Canada and began working in the logging camps. It was there that he learned to speak french. When the war broke out he returned to the states and was attached to a french canadian unit as an interpreter. We have attempted to access these records but somewhere along the line they were lost. The US states they would be in Canada and Canada says they have no reason to have them, so that is no help. What I do know is that after the war my grandfather (Jack Walsh) relocated to Jackson California. In or around 1945 he married my grandmother Josephine. In 1946 my father John Edward Walsh was born, a few years later my uncle Joseph Michael Walsh was born. Shortly after that my grandparents divorced. My Grandfather continued to live in Jackson until his death in 1961. My father, remembers going to his fathers house and being introduced to a gentleman and his son as his uncle and cousin but cannot remember their names. I do know that in or around 1983 my grandmother was contacted by a woman from the easter part of the US, who believed she was my Grandfathers older sister. Before Josephine could respond she had a stroke and died. The box of geneology work, the letter, and all information was taken by my 1/2 aunt, who out of spite has refused to turn it over to the Walsh decendants (she and her other siblings always felt their mother should never have remarried my grandfather after their father died and hated my father and uncle for being products of that marriage) various family members have tried to track the information down over the last 25 years with little luck. So hear I am, now an adult myself picking up an icy trail trying to find SOMETHING or SOMEONE who might recognize this story. The woman my grandmother contacted was very elderly so I doubt she is still alive but perhaps her children have taken up the quest. I will post more details as I find them. Thanks for reading. It's a one in a million shot but well worth the time. Thank you.

Query: I have Walsh ancestors from St. Louis, Missouri and am wondering if anyone might possibly recognize some of them? I am hoping for a clue about where in Ireland Patrick & Mary came from, as well as any information on the family. Their names and approximate birthdates are: Patrick (1825 in Ireland) Mary (1834 in Ireland) children all born in Missouri James (1854) Richard (1856) Thomas (1860) Mary (1863) Catherine/Kate (1867) John (1870) possibly Johanna (b&d 1878) Agnes (1880) They are in St. Louis on the 1860, 1870 (enumerated as "Welsh") and 1880 (living at 1417 Biddle St) censuses. The infant Johanna is listed in the death index (as "Welsh") as having lived at 1417 Biddle St, so I am fairly certain she is also a child of Patrick & Mary. There was another Johanna Walsh, born abt.1854, who appears living with the family on the 1870 census only. There are seven other Walshes buried in Calvary cemetery in the same section as baby Johanna, some of whom appear to be Patrick, Mary, James, the older Johanna, and some Walshes whose connection I am uncertain of: Maurice, died 1878, 58 years old; Willie, died 1886, 4 years old, & Thomas, died 1886, 2 years old. Any information is apprecitated.

Query: My grandfather William Joseph Walsh born 1882 and his brother Robert born 1876 In CORK, as far as I can tell and their father John Walsh who would have been born between 1845 and 1857. William married Maggie McShane and Robert married Mary....? but they both married in England in 1903. I intensively searched many microfiche and found that the only place that showed a William and Robert Walsh of those birth dates (which I know are accurate -from an English census 1901)- was CORK. I haven't got any comparitive evidence for the whereabouts of Johns birth or marriage. I do so much want to know their origins.

Query: Patrick Walsh b 1875 was Grandfather who I never knew. He married, we believe, a woman whose Christian name varies from Colleen, Helen and Ellen Wash. We understand she had been married and had a son George Wash and while with Patrick Walsh had two sons Thomas b. 1907 and Patrick b. 1904. It would appear that both Thomas and Patrick originally had the surname of Wash later changed to Walsh. I cannot any details on my grandparents. My Father died nearly 30 years ago and my Mother died last year and I have no other relatives to ask and I cannot find anything in the records. I would dearly like to find out my originals. If anyone can help I would be very grateful. Lesley Cornell-Walsh
