He died on 20 Apr 1884 in Lansing, Allamakee, IA.
"Mr. and Mrs. Walsh of this township, after traveling life's pathway in
company for more than an average lifetime, passed away within a few days
of each other last week of lung fever. The wife first on Thursday morning
and the husband on Sunday Evening. Mrs. Walsh was 79 years of age, a
native of Garnamanagh, County Kilkenney, Ireland and her funeral occurred
on Saturday. Her consort was fourteen years her junior and hailed from
the same county in the old country, his birthplace being Three Castles.
They emigrated to America in 1851 settling first in Patterson, N.J. where
they remained nine years and then came west to Allamakee county, which has
since been their home. Accompanied by Catherine Walsh age 35, Honor Walsh
10, Martin Walsh, 5 and Maggy Walsh age 2. Martin Ryan (brother of
Catherine), Bridget Walsh (sister of Martin), and Mary Brophy.
Martin2 married Katherine Kitty Ryan was born in 1805 in Graignamanagh,
Kilkenny, Ireland. Three Castles belongs to Parish of Graignamanagh.
She died on 16 Apr 1884 in Lansing, Allamakee, IA.
