Fred was buried on a cold snowy day. Attending were Sara, Cathy and Fred Lager his son, as well as his wife Mary (Diebolt) Lager, the best man at his wedding Lawrence Diebolt and members of his family that included Don Diebolt and his wife Susan, Mary (Diebolt) Botteron, Gloria (Diebolt) Rawlings and her husband, as well as his sister Josephine Hargus and his nephew Harold Cosma. Father Egan and Father O'Shea performed the funeral ceremony and Omar Kimpler represented the US Military. George Ewald and his son Jerome as well as numerous 4th degree Knights of Columbus also attended the graveside services.
