Martha TERRILL [Parents] was born on 6 Nov 1913 in , , Missouri. She died on 20 Jun 1992 in Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon. Martha married Orval CABLE.

Listed in obit on brother, J.M., in 1985 as still living as "Martha Cable of Eugene, OR". Dates are from: http://www.ancestry.com/

Timothy TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1656 in London, , , England and was christened on 6 Dec 1656 in All Hallows, , London, England. He died in , Orange Co., Virginia. Timothy married Elizabeth FOSTER in Mar 1686. He had other parents.

Dicken says that the descendants of Timothy have adhered to the Terrill spelling of the name, rather than Terrell, which is used by Richmond's descendants quite a bit. Timothy settled in Orange Co., VA. Record is found in St. Peter's Parish of the baptism of three children, but it is almost certain that there were others whose records were lost. It is family tradition that he had sons William and Timothy, and some daughters. I have entered here the line from Dicken as given on supposed son, Timothy. Alexandros Quayle, in his book written 1925, has this Timothy as the son of his Uncle Timothy.

In the "Terrell Trails" summer 1996, it states,"It is highly probable that the Timothy who married Elizabeth Foster in Virginia and had sons Robert in 1697 and Joseph in 1699 was the posthumous son of Timothie of All Hallows." There is no positive proof of this, and I have him primarily under Richmond Terrell, and then under George Tyrrell and the royalty line.

This is under dispute and I will put him under both lines.

Elizabeth FOSTER [Parents] was born about 1665. She married Timothy TERRILL in Mar 1686.

They had the following children:

  F i Elizabeth "Eliza" TERRILL
  F ii Mary TERRILL
F iii Ann TERRILL was born about 1692.
  M iv William TERRILL
M v Joel TERRILL was born about 1696.

There is listed in Ellsberry a Joel Terrill's death as 1774, but it is not known if it is this one. There is also a will filed in Albemarle Co., VA in 1774 for Joel Terrell, and one 1776 for Reuben Terrell (inventory 1785).
  M vi Robert TERRILL
  M vii Joseph TERRILL
M viii Timothy TERRILL was born about 1700.

The relationship of this child is not certain.

John FOSTER was born about 1645 in Elizabeth City, , Virginia. He married Ann MOORE.

There is some confusion as to whether there are two John Fosters, but there is evidence that there is only one who m. Ann Moore at any rate, and most likely Robert Terrill m. his Aunt Mary Foster, sister of his mother, Eliz. Foster.

Ann MOORE [Parents] was born about 1654 in Elizabeth City, , Virginia. She married John FOSTER.

From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 January 1996.

They had the following children:

  F i Elizabeth FOSTER
  F ii Mary FOSTER
M iii John FOSTER was born about 1700 in <, New Kent, VA>.

From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 January 1996.

Robert TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1729 in , Culpeper Co., Virginia. He died in 1800 in , Orange Co., Virginia. Robert married Judith TOWLES about 1750.

Settled for awhile in Culpeper Co. VA; moved to Lincoln Co., Kentucky in 1784. One tract was on Boone's road (Land Bk. P. pp. 17,38). A warrent was issued 27 March 1776 to Robert Terrill for 68 pounds for waggonage in Capt. Abram Buford's Company, of the Culpeper Minute Battalion. The records of Culpeper also show that he furnished supplies to the army in 1781. Mrs. Mary Bealmer, 708 So. Williams, Moberly, MO 65270 (1972) says that he died 1786.

The famed "Illinois Papers" that records the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition are preserved in the archives of the Virginia State Library at Richmond. A part of this famed collection is a payroll roster of Capt. John Snoddy's Co. of Lincoln Militia in actual service on an expedition against the Shawnee Indians and Commanded by Gen. George Rogers Clark, dated 22 Oct. 1782 (Lincoln Co. was formed from Kty. Co. in 1780). Among those on the payroll are Robert Terrill, Edmund Terrill, William Terrill, and a second Robert Terrill. Ellsberry speculates that one of these Robert Terrills could be this Robert, accompanied by his three sons, William, Robert, and Edmund (Edward). Edmund would have been only age 14 at this time, brother Robert age 31, William age 18 and father Robert age 57. The expedition mentioned above took place in Kentucky and would prove that this Robert and his family moved to Kentucky at a very early date, if this is them. Robert's estate settlement is in Garrard Co., Kty. in 1800; it mentions children listed (listing husbands of his dtrs.) except for John, Killes, Anne, and Reuben, making the relationship ot these children to him questionable.

Judith TOWLES was born on 23 Apr 1735 in , Middlesex Co., Virginia and was christened in 1735 in Christ's Ch. Par. She married Robert TERRILL about 1750.

They had the following children:

  M vii William TERRILL
M viii Reuben TERRILL was born on 27 Jul 1766.
  M ix Edward (Edmond) TERRILL
  F x Clara "Clary" TERRILL
F xi Luticia "Dicie" "Vicy" TERRILL
  M xii George TERRILL

Ann TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1731. She died before 1786. Ann married Reuben MOORE.

Deceased at time of father's death. Had 5 children, incl. William Moore.

They had the following children:

  M i Robert T. MOORE was born about 1748.

His father's first name was unknown to me until I saw an inquiry from J.H. Tucker, Rt. 1, Bowling Green, Kty. about 1958 giving it and asking about info. on Robert T. Moore, supposedly marrying in N.C.
ii Francis MOORE was born about 1750.
M iii Bernard MOORE was born about 1752.
M iv Alexander MOORE was born about 1754.
M v William MOORE was born in 1756. He died in 1835.

Dates by tradition; there is no proof.

Joseph TOWLES was born in 1725. He married Sarah TERRILL.

Brother of Judith Towles, who marries Sarah's brother, Robert. They had six children, including Fanny.

TOWLES, Joseph

They had the following children:

F i Lydia MURRY was born about 1750.
F ii Elizabeth MURRY was born about 1753.

John TERRILL [Parents] was born about 1727 in , Orange Co., Virginia. He died in 1803 in , Madison Co., Virginia. John married Elizabeth Ann TOWLES.

Will dated 18 Jan 1803 - 24 Mar 1803. After his death, his widow, Ann, relinquished her right of administration of his estate. Three sons and one dtr. are named in his will.

I suspect that he may be the John Terrill who signed a document, along with his brother, William. It is the "November 3, 1785, Orange, Against assessment bill" found on:

http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/r?ammem/relpet:@field(SUBJ+@band(Orange))

Elizabeth Ann TOWLES [Parents] was born about 1741. She died in 1805 in , Orange Co., Virginia. Elizabeth married John TERRILL.

There is some difference of opinion as to where this woman fits into the Towles picture and reference should be made to the Towles family histories.
She may not be placed correctly here, which has her as dtr. of Sarah Terrill and Joseph Towles and her husband John being a brother to her mother. Her mother's brother, Robert Terrill is known to have m. Judith Towles, her father's sister.

They had the following children:

  M i Oliver TERRILL
  M ii Edmund TERRILL Capt.
  M iii Robert TERRILL
  F iv Elizabeth TERRILL

William TERRILL [Parents] was born in 1733 in Orange Co., VA. He died on 29 Jun 1830 in Virginia. William married Mary MALLORY.

Other marriages:
DANIEL, Nancy Ann

William's will is dated 5 Sep 1822 provides that the lands formerly given to his sons Edmund and John, now deceased, be given to three colored boys, Robert, George, and Booking and that they are to be set free after his death and take the land into their immediate possession. One suspects that William may have fathered these colored boys, as this was not uncommon. His will names his surviving children also.

I believe that he is the William Terrill who signs the Orange Co. petition "November 1, 1786, Orange, Against incorporation act" on page four at:

http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/r?ammem/relpet:@field(SUBJ+@band(Orange))

He also appears to have signed the Orange Co. petition "November 3, 1785, Orange, Against assessment bill" at same address, as did a John Terrill.

Mary MALLORY was born about 1734. She died before 1780. Mary married William TERRILL.

They had the following children:

  M i William TERRILL Jr.
  F ii Mary "Polly" TERRILL
  F iii Elizabeth TERRILL
M iv George TERRILL Dr. was born about 1773 in , Orange Co., Virginia. He died on 30 Nov 1807 in , Orange Co., Virginia.

Date of death is given as 30 November one place and 30 October another.
