The "Northie" was at 6031-39 Torresdale Ave. It opened in May 1923 as a
silent movie theater. It closed in 1950s and is now a commercial garage.
Having a distinct red decor, the Northie had damask wall sections, red velour valances and
red and gold stage curtains. In the early days of the theater, a Kimball organ and a
Cunningham piano provided accompaniment.

Photographs of the "Northie" are hard to come by.
This one shows Mrs. Corlette, and her son in the early 1950s. The Northie is
in the background. |

Another shot of the "Northie," this one was taken
during a fourth of July parade in the 1950s. |
