[91] William was a ship captain and they lived in Preston, Conn. nearStonington. His father owned much land in the Stonington area and in1668 became an original proprietor of Block Island, R.I. The son wasappointed an Ensign in the militia on March 13, 1704 and a captain onOct. 11, 1716, assigned to the Preston company. In May 1703 andthereafter he was elected a deputy from Preston to the Coloniallegislature.
