Moses Dow enlisted from Ware for 5 mos from Oct 1776, re-enlisting for
2 mos in 1777. Returning home, a well set up, slender youth who rode a
horse to perfection and had a good one, he had the added glory of
being a veteran. Going to Boston to buy supplies, he hitched his horse
in front of the store kept by one Molyneux, a French merchant. The
merchant's daughter Fannie happened to be sitting in the window. How
quickly things happened we do not know, but a fortnight later he and
Fannie mounted his horse and were out of sight before father saw them.
They stopped at Deering and were married by Rev Jeremiah Bannard of
Amherst. In that gentleman s diary is entered: "Mr Moses Dow and Miss
Fanny Mollineaux, both of Deering." Both evidently told a little fib.
Town records gives Moses Dow 2nd and Phany, June 25, 1780. The
feelings of Pere Molyneux are not chronicled, but the marriage was not
a failure, as both in good health had 10 children at the golden
wedding. They took the veteran's 160 acres somewhere but swapped for a
farm at Leicester, Vermont, going in old age to Hinesburg, Vermont,
where both are buried. He was a pensioner in 1840.

Edwin Lewis Wiederrecht, 81, of Wapello, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995,
at Wapello Nursing and Care Center.
Born April 23, 1914, in Wapello, he was the son of J. Vernon and Hazel
Graham Wiederrecht. He married Helen Daeschner on Sept. 19, 1942. She
died May 30, 1973. He later married Mary Manz Fisher on Feb. 14, 1985,
in Wapello. Mr. Wiederrecht was a 1932 graduate of Wapello High
School, attended Muscatine Junior College for two years, received his
bachelor®s degree from Cornell College in 1937 and his master®s degree
from the University of Delaware in 1957.
Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Barbara Hayes of
Wapello, Becky Romeo of Jonesboro, Ga., and Lois Hagens of Muscatine;
three stepsons, Lynn Fisher of Racine, Wis., Raymond Fisher and Eddie
Fisher, both of Wapello; 10 step-grandchildren two
stepgreat-grandchildren two sisters, Annabelle Hylbak of St. Louis
Park, Minn., and Helen Johnson of Silverton, Ore.; two brothers,
Harlan Wiederrecht of Sun City, Ark., and James V. Wiederrecht of
Spery; and several nieces and nephews.
