BIOGRAPHY: Michael had been a river driver and lumberman beginning his career at 17 years of age. In 1891 Michael opened a hotel and livery in Shiocton. The business continued until 1894. Michael and family moved to Appleton where he worked in real estate, served as sheriff and alderman for the 5th ward. He was also involved in local politics. Michael owned a cottage on Pelican Lake. He died at his cottage in 1926 and was buried in Shiocton, St. Denis Cemetery.
Details from the History of Outagamie County. Michael is written up in the 1910 copy of the "History of Outagamie County" highlighting prominent Valley business men. The article notes that at that time he was sheriff of Outagamie County WI. The article states that Michael received a public school education in Bovina township and remained on the family farm until he was 17 years old when he started his logging career (noted above). He continued in the lumber business for 14 years and "it gave him a strong frame and vigourous constitution." The article continues to say that after levaing the river, Mr. Lockery opened a hotel and livery at Shiocton, where he continued in business for three years, after which he came to Appleton and engaged in a livery business, this being in 1894. After six years he sold his livery to engage in the real estate business, in which he has continued to the present time, and he also for five years was closely identified with the furniture trade. He also owns an excellent farming property in Outagamie county. Mr. Lockery has always been prominent in democratic politics, and for four years he served as alderman. In 1906 he was given the democratic nomination for sheriff of Outagamie county and was elected by a majority of 968 votes, and in 1910, when again nominated, polled 1,362 more votes than his republican opponent. Sheriff Lockery's career as an offical has been as clean as that as a private citizen, and many of the qualities that made his business enterprises prosper have been brought into play to make his public affairs successful.

George and Cecilia lived at 707 Bryden Ave. in 1951 when Cecilia passed away. They had been orchard farmers in Lewiston Orchards. (see notes for Sadie and Louis Blackman also)
Lewiston Orchards was it's own district until 1968 when the city annexed it as part of the city. The Orchards had become subdivisions by that time and the annexation created a growth of restaurants and hotels along the strip from Lewiston to the former orchard area.
!Writer believes that George might have outlived Cecilia and possibly moved away after her death as there is no grave for him. His daughter had moved to the Fox Valley before that time so he might have moved to be near her.
Obituary from the Lewiston Morning Tribune 1951 states that Cecilia died of heart aliment. Jackie Schmidt remembers that one of the two women from Idaho had a short leg and her shoe was fitted to make her walk evenly. She said she thought it was the shorter of the two and writer thinks Cecilia was shorter than Sadie.
!Sadie and her husband George came to the Orchards in 1909 and purchased property on Bryden Ave where they maintained orchards.

The district consisted of 4,300 acres with fruits, berries and vegetables being raised.
