BLASIGERS TO CLOSE STORE AT UNDERWOOD

For the first time in nearly 100 years there will be no store at Underwood.  George Balsiger announced this week that the Underwood Mercantile will be closed as soon as the merchandise is sold.
George and his wife will occupy the apartment above the store to assist their son Ted dispose of the stock.
As soon as the shelves are cleared, the George Balsigers will return to their home at Blue River, Oregon and the Ted Balsigers will move, probably to Eugene, Oregon.
Ted will be associated with his father and brother in the Baco Skyline Crane Logging Co. which has agencies throughout the Northwest, Canada and Alaska.
George says he has a deep feeling for this area and an obligation to his patrons of the past 20 years.
Although he is closing the store, he is not selling the fixtures.  He is hopeful of finding a buyer to carry on the tradition that started with an Indian trading post nearly a century ago.
