BUS GIVEN TO CAMP COLUMBIA
Re-conditioned by Eagles Aerie No. 1 of Seattle, a fully-equipped school bus
from an anonymous donor was presented to Camp Columbia last week. The bus is
emblazoned with Eagle insignia.
Received from Olympia Aerie was a full set of
instruments for Boys Town to organize a drum and bugle corps. In behalf of the
Well Drillers Assn. of Oregon and Washington, President Myers of Kirkland has
pledged his members to drill a well at the Camp to safeguard its new building
from fire.
A recently distinguished visitor was Professor Verrall
of the U of W.'s music department. During the Professor's three-day visit he
gave an evening’s concert of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, not to mention being
helpful in other ways.
Although Verrall is an accomplished pianist, composer
and champion chess player, Major Blake also admires his other talents: cooking,
plumbing, digging ditch and washing dishes.
The Major requests that motorists use a little more
judgments about picking up his boys. They appreciate a ride from town to the
camp, but going the other way is sometimes another matter. Several of his
charges are habitual runaways. Giving them a lift in the opposite direction
prevents the Major’s catching up.
