COUNTY DIVISION

The committee to decide on the boundary line in the proposed division of the county will meet next Saturday afternoon. There does not appear to be much objection to county division, tho, of course, it would be too much to expect it to be unanimous. Over on the Hood River side there were objectors but we are told that not one of them would now favor the old conditions. There seems to be a sentiment in favor of the Klickitat river as the line. Those nearer the line, and particularly Lyle and Appleton, say that unless the line is placed farther east they will oppose division. The line between ranges 13 and 14, which takes in Grand Dalles, is recommended by others, if it can be had without arousing too much opposition in the rest of the county. It is hoped the convention will be harmonious, for the creation of the west end into a new county would be a progressive step of the greatest benefit to the most valuable and fastest developing part of the whole county.
