BINGEN LOSES FOUNDER OF TOWN
Funeral Services To Be Saturday at 10:30 At Bingen Church

Theodor Suksdorf, who with his brother, was a founder of the Town of Bingen, died at his home last Sunday, April 18, after a short illness. He was 94 years of age at the time of his death, and although during recent months found it difficult to move about, he was mentally active and enjoyed discussing the problems of the day with friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Bingen Congregational Community Church with Rev. Miss Pinnell officiating. Cremation will take place in Portland.
Theodor Suksdorf was born on February 25, 1854 in Germany and passed away at his home in Bingen on April _____, 1948. He was brought to this country by his parents at the age of 4 years. The family first settled in Iowa.
In 1874 the family arrived at the place where Bingen now stands having crossed overland to San Fransisco, thence by ship to Portland and by river boat to their destination. Homestead rights were secured to tracts of land in this locality.
In 1892, Mr. Suksdorf, with his brother, Phillip, platted the Original Town of Bingen. In 1924 the Town of Bingen was incorporated and Mr. Suksdorf served as its first mayor. He later platted and added to the town the other additions which now comprise it.
In 1889 he married Louise Carstens and to this union were born four children, Alfred, Hentha, Walter and Elsie.
He is survived by his sons, Alfred Suksdorf of Schenectady, N.Y. and Walter Suksdorf of Bingen.
