The Klickitat County Agriculturist, Goldendale, WA., May 27, 1911, page 3
"Goldendale"

George Gilmer, postmaster at Gilmer, in Western Klickitat was in Goldendale several days this week. Mr. Gilmer tells us that he has held the office of postoffice for a longer period than any other postmaster in the state of Washington. For some 35 years he has held this position, and expects to be right on duty for many years to come. The postal inspector, who drops around to see him occasionally, says he always finds the office conducted better than most of those he visits, while the finances balance in every instance to a penny. Mr. Gilmer is now one of the oldest pioneers in Klickitat, and has an extensive fund of information on all the county's past history. A fact, not known to many, he says, is that Fulda is the second oldest postoffice in the county, White Salmon coming first, and Gilmer third. But in these other two offices there has been many changes in the postmastership.
