“Klickitat Intelligence”

The Granddalles project of the Citizens’ Trustee company, the Granddalles Townsite company, the Granddalles Orchard company and the Granddalles Land & Irrigation company and others interested, is to be sold at sheriff sale at Goldendale July 19 to satisfy the mortgage held by Leon W. Curtiss to the amount of $66,656 together with $5000 for attorney’s fees and costs of suit and interest.  The advertisement of the same will be found on page 7.  The entire Curtiss ranch which was sold several years ago to the Citizens’ Trustee company of Seattle, is to be sold, with the exception of the town site of Granddalles.  It is alleged that there was trouble between the Mott brothers and J.P. MacDougall, who were the original Citizens’ Trustee company.  The Motts were the promoters and MacDougall was a financial end of the proposition.  It is said that MacDougall and the Motts could not come to a settlement of the interests each had in the property and there has been a lot of litigation which has involved the Pacific Power & Light Co. and the Perrine Machinery company.  The latter company has installed the irrigation plant which was to put water on about 1500 acres of the land and the power company had installed a power line to furnish the juice to drive the big motors and pumps.  It is rumored that the sale of the lands by the sheriff will settle the squabble over the title and that in the near future the development of the irrigation project will be continued.
