DEATH SUMMONS SID THOMPSON

     Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Gardners funeral home for Sidney Thompson, 63, resident of this area for 34 years. The Rev. Albert Allen, pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal church, Hood River, officiated. Private committal services were held in the Odd Fellows cemetery, White Salmon under auspices of Evan Childs American Legion post 87.
     Sidney Thompson was born February 7, 1884 at Crawford, Nebraska. While serving in the Navy during W.W.I he was married to Miss May Mason of Oakland, Calif.
     After the war, he became a State horticultural inspector and in this capacity came to White Salmon from Yakima in 1923. Gradually he developed his own orchard holdings until he acquired Echo Glen farm by lease in 1939 and by purchase in 1944.
     In 1928 he served as Commander of Evan Childs Post 87 American Legion. He also belonged to Mt. Adams Elks lodge, 1868.
     He died Wednesday, April 17 at Barnes veterans hospital, Vancouver. The immediate cause of death was a ruptured aneurysm.
     Pall bearers were fellow Legionnaires: Walter Hunsaker, Earl Warneke, Robert Overbaugh, John Childs, Marion Babb and Leon Hilts.
     He is survived by his widow May of White Salmon; sisters, Agnes Powell and Elizabeth Rayl, both of Zillah, and Susan Brandenburg of Dillsboro, Indiana; and two brothers, Bert of Spokane and Elmer of Metaline Falls.

FUNERAL HELD MONDAY FOR S. THOMPSON

     Funeral services were held Monday, April 22nd for Sidney Thompson who passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Washington, April 17th. Born in Crawford, Nebraska, February 7th, 1894, Mr. Thompson had been a resident of White Salmon since 1923. During World War I he served in the Medical Corp. He was a member of the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge No. 1868 and the American Legion Post No. 87.
     Surviving are his wife May Thompson of White Salmon; three sisters, Agnes Powell and Elizabeth Rayl, both of Zillah, Washington, and Susan Brandenburgh of Dillsboro, Indiana. Two brothers, Burt of Spokane, Wn., and Elmer Thompson of Metaline Falls, Wash.
     Pall Bearers: Walt Hunsaker, Earl Warneke, Robert Overbaugh, John Childs, Leon Hilts, Marion Babb.
     Rev. Albert Allen of Hood River officiated at the services. Interment was in the Oddfellows Cemetery.
