Roosevelt, Wn.
June 27, '25
Hiyou Tilcome Editor
Bickleton News
E'o Otedeuyeeweguwa!
My name is "Pofee Mauch" or Black Deer. I am an Indian
of about 100 years old. Long ago, may be 80 years may be more, I used to
live here them days us Indians used to be called "Chuckomeco" now white man
"Roosevelt."
I write now and let you know about Ruined it "Chuckmeco."
Nothing left here now, except Indian sign writing engraved on Rocks just
south of rail-road station, I mean river bank.
When I was little papuos of may be 9 years old, my great
grand-papa used tell me about the meaning of sign writings. Some of them
is as old as 2000 years and some of them is only 150 years young.
Come and look the Indian signs engraved on the rocks
at the riverbank. You will see the signs on rocks, many signs, I don't know
all of them, but I know some.
"Happy Hunting Ground," all same white man's "Jesus Christ."
I think Indian religion, most important sign is valuable treasure and gold
stone are hidden in ground between two creeks. I don't know which creek,
may be Wood creek, may be Pine creek, may be Rock creek.
I never told this before, but now I am old and may be
die any time, I thought I tell you, may be you put it in your newspaper and
everybody know about Indian signs and I die may be I see my papa and my mama
and all.
I will write you some more signs next month,
Good bi Tilcome
Pofee Mauch.
