MR. AND MRS. JAMES K. STRANAHAN
1883
By Mrs. A.B. Jones
James K. Stranahan was a native of Essex County, New
York.
He and his wife, Permalia (Reynolds) Stranahan, arrived
in Hood River two weeks after the first train had passed through the
town.
In his early life Mr. Stranahan was a teacher, teaching
and speaking several different languages fluently. All his long life he was
a reader and a great student.
He died at the age of eighty seven years, an example
of loving charity for all. Mrs. Stranahan died at the age of seventy five
years, loved and mourned by all who knew her.
Of their children, Mrs. Ann Hayes, Mrs. Marybeth Crowell
and Horace Stranahan still remain. Also Henry, Oscar and William. Horace
celebrated his 96th birthday March 12, 1941. Well and happy.
