KLICKITAT FARMERS BACK DALLESPORT
(For The Agri.)
During the past week wheat farmers of Wasco, Sherman and Gilliam counties in
Oregon and Klickitat county in Washington asked the local port commission to
cooperate with them in efforts to provide elevators on the water-front so their
crop may be loaded directly into the holds of ocean vessels docking at The
Dalles.
Cheap grower may also spell a brighter day for the
farmer and particularly for those living within the immediate radius of The
Dalles, where large tracts may be irrigated and their productiveness increased
by electrically-operated pumping plants.
All of these and many other problems which vitally
affect the interests of Wasco (and Klickitat) county farmers during the next
decade will be considered at the agricultural outlook conference to be held in
The Dalles February 13 and 14. It is an event which no progressive and
forward-looking farmer of the county will choose to miss.
