LANDMARK CONSUMED IN LAUREL BLAZE
Laurel, March 12th, 1963
An early morning fire completely destroyed the home of
R.R. Arbogast here, Tuesday, thought to have caught from the flue.
This "landmark" house was built by Jonathan Stump for
his bride, the late Jennie Wright Stump in the early '90s, who a number of
years later sold to Martin Kunz.
The present owner has been here 10 or 12 years. A small
amount of household goods was saved by neighbors who congregated, also the
State Fire Truck came from Glenwood.
Fortunately the family has a small house suitable for
"camping" at present.
Mr. Arbogast, who works at Richland, was not at home.
The women sounded the alarm and all the small animals were saved.
This is the second fire in our vicinity this winter.
About a month ago the Pump house on the O.K. Ranch burned, the neighbors
again came to the rescue. Thanks to them all.
