LYLE HAS BOOSTFEST
Take a Vote on Matter of County Division

Lyle, on the North Bank of the Columbia river, threw open its gates to a party of Portland business men yesterday, furnished automobiles for a tour of the town and surrounding country, served luncheon to the guests and then provided a program in which there was much talking and handshaking.
The object of the meeting was to plan a campaign of publicity for Lyle, to exploit the resources of this section of Klickitat county, the Portland business men being asked to visit Lyle to give advice.
When the booster meeting was called, the first thing considered was the financial condition of the Commercial Club. It was found that the organization was in debt. C.C. Chapman, of the Portland Commercial Club, experienced in just such situations, led the movement which resulted in the raising of more than $300 in a very few minutes. This placed the Commercial Club out of debt, paid for the new exhibit building near the North Bank station at Lyle and left more than $100 in the treasury.
With the club on a sound financial footing, booster talks came thick and fast and within a very short time Carl R. Gray, president of the North Bank Railroad, Samuel Hill, Geo. M. Hyland, C.C. Chapman, W.E. Coman, general freight and passenger agent of the North Bank, and Prof. Shaw, agricultural expert for the Great Northern Railway, had talked encouragingly to the citizens of Lyle and the 50 or more farmers from the surrounding country, gathered to greet the Portland visitors. - Oregonian, March 30.

COUNTY DIVISION

According to a G.E. Read, of White Salmon, who was in Lyle, the regular meeting was preceded by a county division meeting in the forenoon. He said that not all of them were agreed as to county division. It was put to a vote, and several did not vote. Of those who voted, however, a majority was against a division. He heard expressions to the effect that in the event of division Lyle favored the boundary line much farther east than the Klickitat river.
On Saturday of this week a vote will be taken in the Lyle precinct to select a delegate for the county division meeting to be held as soon as the precincts select delegates.
